A Second Honeymoon
I cannot believe we are actually going to do this!
A week or so ago we decided to do something a bit “out there” for our 15th wedding anniversary and fly to Melbourne for a few days.
Our Wedding Anniversary is later this month so it’s pretty much a last minute thing.
I’m so excited I hardly know what to do with myself!
We found a good deal on accommodation here:

Doesn’t that look like a castle to you?
It’s called the Hotel Windsor and it’s 5 star!!!!
5 star!!!!!!

I hope they don’t expect big tips!
I’ve NEVER stayed in anything close to 5 stars before and wasn’t thinking I ever would.
The deal was almost 1/3 of the “normal” price AND includes breakfast (I’m sure “normal” prices on those last minute places are on the inflated side of “normal”).
Still more than we would normally pay but for 3 nights, it’s doable.
One of the reasons we decided on Melbourne (other than the fact that I LOVE the place), is so we can go and see this:

I’ve always wanted to go to the theatre with Farmboy. It’s not really his “thing” but I’m hoping Hairspray will be a good choice that both of us can enjoy.
I’ve also always wanted to go on one of these:

I’m hoping to book one to pick us up from the theatre and take us on a short ride (about half an hour) around the city before dropping us back at our hotel. It’s the one thing I haven’t actually booked yet but I have started making enquiries and we should be able to get one.
You’d think that would make for a lovely anniversary wouldn’t you? But that’s all happening the day BEFORE our wedding anniversary. For our actual anniversary, we’re going on this:

It’s a restaurant on a tram and I always wanted to go on it when we lived in Melbourne.
3 hours and a 5 course meal while we enjoy the night lights of Melbourne and inner suburbs (when we’re not busy gazing lovingly into one another’s eyes of course LOL).
Other plans include a cruise down the Yarra River (just a sightseeing cruise), a visit to the Lindt cafe, SHOPPING and generally just hanging out together.
We’re spending as much on 4 days as we’d normally spend on about 2 weeks holiday but hopefully we’re going to cram at least 2 weeks of fun and memories into those 4 days!
At the very least, I’m going to have a few things to add to my “101 Things I Thought I’d Never Do” list.

Sounds like a fantastic way to celebrate 15 years!!
I love the tramcar resturant. Our 15 year anniversary is coming up later in the year - might need to do some planning!!
Enjoy! We didn’t do anything for 15 years.. I was pregnant and we were getting ready to sell our little house and buy a bigger one. We did celebrate 10, 20 and 25 years with trips. I love Melbourne - had a quick trip there last Sept with MissN to see the Tim Burton exhibition (stayed with friends and used up some of C’s frequent flyer points).
Have fun - you do know that the Windsor is famous for their chocolate-themed afternoon teas….????!!!!!
Have fun and enjoy your anniversary.
Wow, what a great weekend you’ve got planned!
Happy Anniversary.
Oh that sounds lovely
I’m thinking Leechboy and I should try and do something similar for our wedding anniversary, seeing as the 10th passed us by with very little fanfare.
You could be an events coordinator ! For yourselves and maybe start your own business organising romantic getaways! sounds just what the Dr ordered!

Lynette - Farmboy told me I should be a travel agent. But not sure I’d find it all that much fun organising everyone else’s holidays. LOL.

Marita - Life’s short. Just do it!
River - thank you. Can’t believe we’ve clocked up 15 years already.
JO - Thank you. We’re both really looking forward to some time together. Life has gotten hectic again lately.
Kath - I think I saw that mentioned somewhere but it’s only at particular times isn’t it? I wondered about their regular afternoon tea but for $120, I figure we should be able to visit at least 2 chocolate cafes for that! And be able to spread the calories over a couple of days!
Wendy - We had originally hoped to have a 2nd honeymoon for our 10th but didn’t really factor in children. LOL. One day we’d also like to do a cruise. Perhaps as a 3rd honeymoon?
In this day and age, I think there’s plenty of reasons to celebrate being happily married.
Jo - I’m really looking forward to the Tramcar restaurant. Not sure how we’ll go with the fancy food (we’re pretty plain eaters) but we’re trying to view it as an opportunity to try some new things. And with 5 courses, surely there’ll be SOMETHING that we like. Somehow I think we’ll have to eat before hand anyway as with an 8.35pm start, it’s pretty late for us food wise. Big afternoon tea that day maybe.
