Work on that Jodi! So often the really sporty kids and the academic kids get all the recognition, those who are middle of the road or have artistic skills are ignored. We are lucky that out school is part of the Public School instrumental music program so in year 5 & 6 they can be part of a band - my son is learning the flute. We were also lucky enough to have a dance program for the first half of this year. But to do this other things are missed - like a school librarian. Each school has to make choices and sometimes the principal needs a bit of encouragement to take certain directions by parents, lol.

Good luck with the convincing. Governments all over Australia seem hell-bent on giving us nothing but sports facilities. They just don't seem to realise that not everyone is into football, soccer or cricket. They're wanting to build bigger and better arenas to attract the international sportsmen and dollars.

Perhaps a petition from your school and local towns might do some good?
