Sultana Bran Buds Review (and a Giveaway)
Hi Everyone,
Thanks for sharing your great “cheer others up” experiences. We’re having internet troubles at the moment so I’m not able to do as much online as I would like (right now in town at the library trying to do this post quickly). My apologies for not responding to your comments as I would like.
Recently we were sent a pack of the new Sultana Bran Buds to try.

The kids were rather excited when they arrived and wanted to try them immediately.
To be honest, I was somewhat surprised as my kids don’t like sultanas. LOL.
But they LOVE these!!!
I’d have walked past them in the supermarket every time assuming they wouldn’t like them because of the sultana content.
The packet we were sent to try was wolfed down in a matter of days.
Followed by “can you buy some more of these mum?”
I’m kind of relieved because the younger two are painful when it comes to what cereal they like.
They’ll eat coco pops and nutra grain (and fruit loops if I’d let them) but I prefer them to have something with some sort of nutritional value for breakfast!
And from what I can gather on the nutritional panel, they have more fibre per serve than weetbix!!!
So, I’ve been offered 5 packs of these to my readers as a giveaway.
If you’d like to try them, simply leave a comment below answering either (or both) of the following questions:
1. A creative idea for getting more fibre in your kids diet.
2. What kinds of cereal are popular in your house?
I will announce the winners in a few days (internet willing) so don’t delay, get your comments in straight away.

I saw the same cereal and wondered what its like.
I always add ungrated or finely chopped unpeeled vegies into things like spaghetti meat. lasagne and when making home made wedges i only wash and cut the spuds.. never peeling them.
The cereals that are popular in my house are oats for porridge, weetbix, and sultana bran. I only buy treat cereals in holidays by request but dont if they are not requested. Most of them end up half eaten anyway cos the kids tire of them.
PS I dont expect a freebie.. I am sure there are many others who would like variety too.

I saw it too the other day. My kids have never been interested in sultana bran, though I loved it as a kid.
My kids are really good at eating healthy foods & happily eat most veggies & fruit with no need to hide them. They willingly eat All Bran, Weet-bix & Porridge (in fact our oldest daughter prefers those to the ‘kids’ cereals. I also buy Nutri-grain, but even the child who desperately wanted it has tired of it now.
I generally encourage having fruit on their breakfast (bananas mostly, though in the past it has been tinned fruit), I put as many veggies as I can in most things I cook + I try & put half wholemeal flour in any favourite muffin recipes.
Oh I think my kids might like this…. probably not as ‘cereal’ with milk, but as a yummy snack! My kids are not big cereal eaters…they eat rice bubbles.. dry… no milk, no nothing. But the amount of raw fruit and veg my kids consume… fibre is no problem in this house!
Hmmm okay so the fibre is good, outa curiosity what is the salt and sugar content like??? Have found some things to be really high in these things that is all
Heidi prefers to eat her cereal dry with no milk, so we usually buy things like nutri grain or mini wheats, she loves those
How to get extra fiber in their diet? I buy whole meal flour and use it when baking muffins and biscuits for school, also homemade pizza bases with wholemeal flour rock. Also only buy wholemeal bread, I’d get a grain bread but Annie can’t stand the seeds.
A creative idea for more fibre? Check my post of a couple of days ago. (fruity bouquet).
Favourite cereals here are Porridge on working days, Weet-bix for the weekends and Nutri-grain as a snack food. Dry - no milk.
1. A creative idea for getting more fibre in your kids diet.
A colourful fruit platter, and my Mexican Tortilla stack is magic - I use the highest fibre tortillas, and use half mince, half mashed kidney beans, plus a grated carrot and zucchini. Kids love it, but don’t know just how good it is for them.
2. What kinds of cereal are popular in your house?
Cornflakes, Cheerios and Rice Bubbles unfortunately, despite exposure to lots of Weetbix and Sultana Bran!!
Always on the lookout for a new cereal that is healthy, but budget concious.
Well we’ve had our trial of Sultana Buds - thanks again. The kids loved them - but unfortunately they are in the once in a while category for us. After a few days I thought to read the ingredients. Seems that although there is no artifical stuff in them, they do contain annatto which is a natural food colouring that we avoid. Sure enough our son who is the affected the most by food colourings started to show the behavioural signs we’ve come to associate with too much of something he shouldn’t have.
If they could come up with a way of getting rid of the colouring then it would be a must have in our house!
