Printer Poll

I have started a new poll on printer brands.

It’s in the sidebar but I’ll insert it here as well:

What Brand Of Printer Do You Currently Own?

We have owned an Epson in the past and now have a Brother.  I’ve never had a Canon before.

It got me to thinking about what the more popular brands are and why.

If you have anything you’d like to add in the comments section about what printer brand you have and why you do or don’t like it, I’d love to hear from you.

P.S. Please give your honest opinions.  My latest toy gave me the idea for this poll but it has nothing to do with Canon or their current blogging promotion,

I have a Canon MP210. Over a year ago, I bought it because it was on special at Dick Smiths at the same time that I had enough money to buy it, also because the box wasn’t too big to fit into my granny trolley and bring home. It’s a multifunction printer/ scanner/ photocopier. I’m very happy with it.

We have 2 printers at home, different brands, so I haven’t filled in your poll. One is a colour inkjet (HP), the other is b&w laser (Fuji-Xerox). Both work fine, no problems on that score. However, the ink for the inkjet is expensive & it seems to go through it quickly. We bought the laserprinter because we urgently needed to get something done, were out of ink for the HP, money was tight & it was cheaper to buy the new laserprinter than to replace the ink in the inkjet at the time. We’ve since replaced the ink, because we like being able to print photos in colour. Picture quality on the photos is great.

Victoria - I did allow for 2 responses when setting up the poll, thinking some people probably have 2 (if they have more than 2 they’ll have to pick their most used 2) so if you did want to enter your responses in the poll, you could.

I don’t have a printer. Loved my HP laser jet, but when I got my new computer it wasn’t compatible with Vista 64bit. Need to buy a new one, just haven’t yet. Over 5 year, I never replaced the ink in the laserjet - great value for money! Now I want one the prints, copies and scans.

I have a Epson multi-purpose one - great, but I do lose what I saved in initial cost in replacing ink fairly regularly.

We have a Brother Multi-function printer that is our fax machine & colour printer + a Brother laser printer. Although I used the MFC to print photos, I’ve never liked the photos it prints - darkish photos come out really muddy. For all other printing it’s fine.

We’ve had a variety of brands over the years. Our Epson was the worst of them, the lexmark lasted the longest, only being replaced because we needed a printer with fax capability

I have an older epson photo printer that needs updating but I can’t seem to find exactly what I want…

I’ve loved our epson, it’s been reliable and printed really well - still does just getting harder to buy ink for it. There seems to be so many cheap printers on the market these days I am finding it hard to know whether it is better to pay a bit more and get something better or just go with the cheap ones….. oh and everything seems to be a ‘multi purpose centre’ which I don’t need…

Will be really interested to see what you think of the cannon

we have a multifunction HP printer…. our 2nd in about 8 years and it was given by someone upgrading to a laser printer… we like it because its small enough to fit on the desk as we also have a large scanner for scanning slides for family history reasons.. (all my baby photos are on slides - i am older than some here).
The printer is okay but its cartridges are a bit smaller than our last ones… seems to print just fine. we really havent printed many photos out on it at all but think its probably cheaper to get them done in bulk somewhere else!
With us both working at educational institutions we are able to get some better quality colour there and I encourage my teen son to use up his IT credit at school for most colour printing.. as we pay in advance for it and dont get refunded!
Enjoy your new toy Jodi.. i got one too only mine is a laptop.. our very first… guess housework is a thing of the past now!!

I am using Epson but after the inks emptied, I never had the time to buy because the ink cartridges are very expensive. It is not refillable.
