What Are You Up To This Easter?

I did my “Easter Shopping” today. So I’m all ready now.
I generally try not to shop too early as it’s too tempting!!! LOL.
We often go away for Easter but this year we’ve been so busy that we decided against an Easter weekend away. Fun as it would be, I just don’t have the energy to get packed up again (We’ve had 2 weekends away in March as well as being away Tuesday night for our anniversary plus 2 of the kids have had school camps this term).
Of course, added to that is the complication of “who” to spend Easter with. Farmboys family tend to gather at the family shack. We also have a few friends who we’ve gone camping with and it gets hard to choose who we will go with.
So, we’re looking forward to a little quieter weekend this year.
Our weekend looks something like this:
Thursday night - Tennis wind-up
Friday - Church in the morning then down to the beach to spend some time with DH’s family.
Saturday - Quiet day at home. Farmboy is planning to do some more paving and I’d like to get out in the garden (hopefully the weather is nice).
Sunday - unlikely that we’ll make the dawn service this year (would have to leave around 5.30am to make it) so most likely a quiet morning at home then down to the beach for more time with Farmboys family.
Monday - another home day
It should be pleasant without being too overwhelming or exhausting.
We also seem to have fallen into a kind of pattern for what we give the kids:
* pr winter pj’s (would buy anyway but it’s nice to put out for Easter as it’s often about when the weather starts to cool down - although being so early this year, they might not get used for a few weeks).
* book
* chocolate eggs
Plus I’ve bought some small eggs for an egg hunt (another tradition we’ve done any Easter we’re home since the kids have been little).
We also give to the nieces and nephews on Farmboy’s side of the family (when we see them which is most years).
I’ve tried not to buy too much chocolate this year but by the time you add in hot cross buns with butter, chips, dip, cheeses etc, Easter is a really DANGEROUS time for my waist line.
So, what are you planning this Easter? Heading away or staying home? Do you have any family “traditions” for this time of year?
And the big one:
What do you do in the way of Easter “gifts”?
Do you buy the same things each year or vary it. Do you set a money limit? Do you buy more than just chocolate for gifts?

I don’t buy any easter gifts apart from eggs, I just don’t think easter is an appropriate gift giving occasion. I like the idea of new PJs (matches in with new summer ones for christmas), so I’ll consider that in the future.
We always do an egg hunt for the children as well. This year we are going camping, & we’ll be doing the hunt while away. I’ve already emailed the easter bunny & told him to not leave the eggs at our house but at our campsite instead. He has emailed back to agree to that, much to the kidlets delight.
A couple of quiet days at home (and at the beach) sounds like just what you need when you’ve been so busy.
We’re headed down the coast with some friends. My parents usually take their van down for us to use but with both of them having just had surgery we decided to book a cabin this year. The downside is I’ve left ALL the packing till this morning and we’re planning to leave around 11am. I know it will be fun and relaxing but I’d be happy to stay home as I feel like I’ve hardly been home the last two weeks.
Have a great Easter. Oh, we also do the Winter PJ thing from the bunny!

We are home for Easter and then heading to family in Mildura for a baptism. I am looking forward to just having some extra time to catch up on everything !
You did your Easter shopping today? So did the entire city of Adelaide and I’m fairly sure about 97% of them came through my checkout in a never-ending stream. That’s NEVER-ENDING stream. One long 8 hour shift of faces pushing trolleys packed to the rafters. (with lunch and tea break of course).
So my plan for tomorrow is sleep, coffee, sleep, maybe read a book for a while, eat a little breakfast, sleep, walk around the yard, (excercise is important), sleep some more, repeat until bedtime, then fall asleep. The rest of the weekend will take care of itself I’m sure. Oh, and there’s an afternoon tea with my kids on Sunday.
I did our egg shopping a while back. We can no longer eat ANY regular milk or dark chocolates. I got some white eggs to do the Easter hunt with (they aren’t actually Ok for us either, but hopefully the smaller amount of cocoa will not send my 3yo and 1yo off). I also ordered some carob eggs for the Easter Bunny to bring. And some carob bilby’s for my Gran to give to the kids (she has been doing that since I was a teenager, basically since they first came out).
This year, being that chocolate eggs need to be exluded, or severly limited, I decided to get winter PJ’s too. William and I went shopping for Tori’s yesterday. I got the boys thiers about 4 weeks ago on sale for $6. We tend to be in winter Jammies all but 2 nights of the year, so we are desperate again now for new ones, even though kids all get them from Santa as well.
In regards our activities, DH is out driving steam trains today, boys and Tori and I are about to head to 10am church, then will probably go for a train ride with Daddy after lunch. (Will see how I am feeling, inside baby doesn’t like much of anything at the moment, and trains seem to be one of the worst for bringing on a series of close contractions).
Tomorrow we have lunch with family (to which I need to take our own food cause my Mum wont cater for our diet, GRRR!!!) Sunday will have regular church, then a quiet day, or a drive. Monday DH is back at work, so kids and I will start our holiday routine, which I am yet to work out what will be. Both boys need strict routine, or they fall apart, and so do I, so best work out something.
Ooops, that got longer than I intended. Have a lovely Easter. xoxo.
I shopped in advance (sooooo glad… I tried to get a couple of movies for the Drawer of Mystery and the queue at Target would have taken my entire lunch break to get through). We alternate between car club things and staying home. This year is an “at home” year - I am pleased, I have to say. I have been exhausted lately, so the opportunity for four days off is excellent. D is working Saturday through Monday, so it’s worked out well. Next year, the car club we’re in is hosting the Street Rod Nationals. That will be fun and chaotic!
Today, we had a family day, including a Family Drive. We were going for a bike ride, but a bit too much of the scattered showers to get the bikes out.
Saturday - Housework and general home maintenance day.
Sunday - Easter Egg Hunt. The boys get some Lego from the Bunny… We do gifts, as I’d rather give them stuff than chocolate! Then I am thinking about baking…
Monday - Loafing about doing nothing much, I suspect
Tuesday back to work for me!
We were away, second year in a row. We didn’t do eggs or presents. We don’t miss them.
