I’m REALLY Not Cut Out To Be A Farmer!!!!

- Image via Wikipedia
I’m the kind of person who likes to plan.
And I like my plans to go to plan!
Which makes me a shocking candidate for farming.
Because nothing on the farm goes to PLAN!
Or so it would seem.
Working around weather conditions, break-downs and unco-operative sheep is enough to put a girl in a REAL bad mood!!!!
This week seems to have been tough.
I tried to help Farmboy with some drafting (the way we sort a mob of sheep into 2 different lots) and got my finger kicked by a sheep. Then my feet were stomped all over. That was one stubborn mob of sheep.
Then while out spot-spraying weeds, my wand fell apart. I tried to fix it numerous times but it just wouldn’t stay together. My plan to get X hours done that day fell in a heap.
Oh well.
Farmboy has now bought me a new wand (and so far it hasn’t fallen apart) and the sheep are off to market in the next few days.
I don’t mind helping out around the farm when things go well.
But I HATE it when things don’t go so well.
And that seems to be altogether too often for my liking!
I honestly don’t get how people do this full time. It’s SO frustrating!!!!
And yet, somehow I suspect I’ll try to do it all again next week!
??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

You can do it! I am pulling for you. You inspire me.
I read your blog and think, “that sounds fun!” Your posts make me laugh because you just seem to handle it all with such determination, grace and humor. Hope your finger feels better and that today on the farm goes a little better.
Peace.

Hello friends!
Ha ha I think you’ll be a great farmer, don’t worry you’ll fix it as a piece of cake!
Only remember to use good protection for your feets (real farmer boots with good protection for your toes) I’ve been stomped from big cows myself:)
I remember specially one beefcow which broke 3 toes when I was a young teenager, I’m 34 today and can’t still not use these toes
Actually farminglife and countrylife is something of the most natural and most wonderful way of liveing I can imagine myself. That’s been my own life since I was a kid and still have’nt found anything else to compare with which can provide the same environment for creativity or different types of hobbies/bussines. It’s a great source for inspiration.
So keep on going, you will make it with ease!
Can’t say I’m so used with sheeps even if it’s quite common here in Sweden but usually all animals has one thing in common which might be useful when dealing with them. See them as your own best friends or own kids or familymembers.
It’s the same with animals as it is with human relations, it need always time to get used to new things and it need time to building up trust and good friendship. They will learn to like you and do what you want when they know you and they know you are relaxed and calm and filled with your own confident. And remember a good tasty “carrot” is never wrong, trick them with something they like to eat and after a time they’ll come only by the sound from a bucket or your voice, from that point is magic.
Good luck in everything and my best wishes for a Happy new Year!

Ps. Thanks for the software System Mechanic, it became a great joy.
Really fun to winn! Ds.
Though you weave humour into the mix farming can be frustrating and overwhelming when things don’t go as planned. I hope this next week is better.
I don’t fancy sheep at all lol.
My FIL has a few sheep but they belong to hub’s cousin. The cows are a different story I stay away from them.
Hello Lightening
I had to laugh ‘cose that sounds like me and weight loss - I love it when things are going great but am not so keen when its not going the way I want it to.
I’m sure next week will be a bit better for you - has your cool change arrived? That often puts a different light on things.
Take care
Cathy
