I would totally buy that to play with myself! Josiah is just getting into Duplo. Josh and I are both impatiently waiting until he's old enough to play 'real' Lego :D Josh still has some of his own childhood Lego in a little suitcase just waiting for Josiah to 'grow into'.

Thank you, Lightening and Agrantham81. I will go to Kmart and Target tomorrow. If I can get a bargain I will be pleased because then I can buy more.

I have to agree about the quality control, in all my years of lego buying (including when I was a child) there has never been a piece missing.

I'm really glad that they seem to bring back a more basic range these days. For a while there it looked like the only lego you could buy was themed to a movie or something.

Hope your son is feeling better soon.

W got some more B'day money today. We went and looked in target, there was a reasonable range of lego.

The caravan above was $25 (they were on sale). W picked a dump truck that was also $25. There were some more grown up ones as well. The age on the box that W picked was 5-12, there were also some 6-12 and some 7-14 ages too.

We picked up the big box, with 4 bags of bits that made a fairly flash pirate floating city and various other bits (age 6-12) for $64 (I think) it was marked down from $90. Target has a current sale on now, if you can get there, otherwise depending on time wait for the next one.

I will be ducking back at some point and laybying some more pirate bits for the boys for Christmas. My 3yo (will be 4 in April) is doing better than I thought with the lego. So will be upgrading the two boys to little lego, and transferring the Duplo on to the little girl (9 months) she loves it too.

Best of luck. Lego is a great gift. :-)

Ah we love Lego here but I am secretly relieved to have children of an age that no longer require my help in the construction! Thanks for visiting me!

I think there's a Lego kit for just about everything. My mum used to buy Lego for my little brother, every christmas and birthday saw another set added. Later she did the same for my kids for a while. My brothers collection started out living in an ice cream container, then a larger icecream bucket, moved on to the big old nappy soaking bucket and finally into one of those sandbox "clam" type containers. It was huge. He still put pieces together to keep on his shelf even as a teenager.

It varies from around $5 for the smallest kit up to $100s. To give you an idea, this kit would retail for around $30. You can buy it many places but I would try department stores like Target or Kmart. They regularly have 20% off sales so you can get it a little cheaper too.
