Lego Makes A Little Boys Wish Come True
Last time I reviewed a lego product, I asked Trailer Boy what his dream Lego would be.
His response?
A caravan!!!
This might not be quite the same as our caravan but it’s pretty close:

And the lovely people at Zing actually remembered that was what his hearts desire was. How nice is that???
I was going to keep it for his birthday but he was so sick recently that I brought it out as a “cheer me up”. And it certainly cheered him up!!!
Even though it’s a smaller set, Lego had still packaged it up into numbered packages to make building it easier:

I’m not the world’s best Lego builder so this was particularly appreciated given he was not well and needed lots of help (and Farmboy is busy at the moment).
Every time I help build a new set of Lego, my heart always leaps to my throat wondering if a piece is going to be missing. It’s NEVER happened though. Lego must have some decent quality control. Which is nice in this day and age of “cutting costs to increase profits”. It might not be the cheapest toy to buy but at least you feel like you’re getting something for your money.

I still cannot believe how much detail they get into their kits. This one has little cups, a pushbike (much to Trailer Boys delight!!!), a television. Once made up, it opens up and you can actually play with the people that come with it - put them in the back, put them in bed etc. So much FUN!!!!

He’s done nothing but play with it ever since we put it together!
A message from Trailer Boy:
It’s Good.
I like the inside of it and that they can surf.
There’s a thing up there (the top) where they can sleep.
The best bit is the drivers seat.
Thank you to Lego and Zing for sending it to me.
Thanks from me too!!! I think you saved my sanity, trying to cope with a sick little boy!!! :) No doubt this will remain a treasured item in our home for years to come!

I loved Lego as a kid! I can’t wait until I have kids old enough to play lego
We just had a big session of Lego at house this evening! Will be posting about it myself soon. Lego is such a great open ended toy for kids.
W got lego for his B’day. His box was soo big it had 4 packages in it to put together. Must say I like this new introduction.
Had looked at the camper, will add it to the boys Xmas list. They will both be getting Lego for Christmas this year. Just wish I had another room, so Miss V (9 months) could go in her own space far far away from all those little tiny swallowing/choking bits.
Might have to declutter the back room significantly to make it happen.
Glad it helped make trailer boy feel better too.
Can anyone give me an idea what the cost of lego is? eg. a caravan or bike etc This is for an 8 year old Aussie boy. Where is the best place to buy it in Sydney?
Sorry I forget to add I don’t want to pay more than $70 for lego for 8 year old boy
It varies from around $5 for the smallest kit up to $100s. To give you an idea, this kit would retail for around $30. You can buy it many places but I would try department stores like Target or Kmart. They regularly have 20% off sales so you can get it a little cheaper too.
I think there’s a Lego kit for just about everything. My mum used to buy Lego for my little brother, every christmas and birthday saw another set added. Later she did the same for my kids for a while. My brothers collection started out living in an ice cream container, then a larger icecream bucket, moved on to the big old nappy soaking bucket and finally into one of those sandbox “clam” type containers. It was huge. He still put pieces together to keep on his shelf even as a teenager.
Ah we love Lego here but I am secretly relieved to have children of an age that no longer require my help in the construction! Thanks for visiting me!
I got this kit for my nephews birthday recently and he just loved it. It is a great little set.
W got some more B’day money today. We went and looked in target, there was a reasonable range of lego.
The caravan above was $25 (they were on sale). W picked a dump truck that was also $25. There were some more grown up ones as well. The age on the box that W picked was 5-12, there were also some 6-12 and some 7-14 ages too.
We picked up the big box, with 4 bags of bits that made a fairly flash pirate floating city and various other bits (age 6-12) for $64 (I think) it was marked down from $90. Target has a current sale on now, if you can get there, otherwise depending on time wait for the next one.
I will be ducking back at some point and laybying some more pirate bits for the boys for Christmas. My 3yo (will be 4 in April) is doing better than I thought with the lego. So will be upgrading the two boys to little lego, and transferring the Duplo on to the little girl (9 months) she loves it too.
Best of luck. Lego is a great gift.
I have to agree about the quality control, in all my years of lego buying (including when I was a child) there has never been a piece missing.
I’m really glad that they seem to bring back a more basic range these days. For a while there it looked like the only lego you could buy was themed to a movie or something.
Hope your son is feeling better soon.
Thank you, Lightening and Agrantham81. I will go to Kmart and Target tomorrow. If I can get a bargain I will be pleased because then I can buy more.
So cute. I picked this up for Christy for Christmas - looks way better than I expected.
Libby
I would totally buy that to play with myself! Josiah is just getting into Duplo. Josh and I are both impatiently waiting until he’s old enough to play ‘real’ Lego
Josh still has some of his own childhood Lego in a little suitcase just waiting for Josiah to ‘grow into’.
