I sometimes spend so much time planning and dreaming that I forget to live in the here and now. I get rather rudely woken up when people start demanding dinner.

I think it's fabulous to have some form of long-term plan, so you know just where all your savings and hard work is aiming towards! I find it weird when people buy or build a home, and then DON'T have plans to do something to it! Whether it be to put in different curtains, extend a garden, repaint, decorate, or whatever!

We built (again) and have been here for 3 years now, and still have so many plans of what else we'd like to do and improve!

I absolutely plan like this. I have a list in the back of my diary which are all the things I want to do around the house. So far I have got - replaster and paint lounge and hallway, replace bathroom, landscape back section, build new garden by front path, plant trees down one boundary, fix squeaky floors, and then recarpet. That will keep me going for a good while yet. I spend time looking through the list, figuring out priorities, guessing how much things will cost (I need to get organised and get some quotes) and imagining what it will all look like when it is finished.
