My kids have been having lots of fun getting creative with their food of late.

This is one of Trailer Boys creations (he’s not quite 6):

100 Blog Comments Challenge - The Half Way Mark

I know that we’re more than half way through the week and I will admit that I’m finding this challenge somewhat “challenging”.  Of course, I’m making it more difficult on myself by deciding to link to the posts I’ve commented on.  As a blogger, you can never have too many links (hint! hint! ROFLOL) and since I wanted to track how many comments I’d left this week, I decided I may as well do it this way.  Of course, now all of these posts have 2 comments from  me - 1 on the blog and 1 here (and no, they’re not the same - mostly).

50. Finally Back From a Long Blog Holiday

Life can and does get in the way of blogging from time to time.

I’ve actually visited more than these.  Some blogs I couldn’t comment on or I felt I had nothing to say.

Don’t despair if your blog isn’t here.  I still have 50 to go.  Make sure you leave me a comment if you’d like me to visit.  :)

Blogroll Update

I’ve been going through my blogroll as part of my commenting challenge and noticing how out of date it has become.

Some of the blogs listed haven’t been updated in a while.

Some have decided to go private and I haven’t been invited (*sob*).

Some have changed URL’s and I haven’t updated the link.

And no doubt there are some new ones out there (or new readers that have blogs).

SO, it’s blogroll update time.

Please click on the little blogroll link up there below the header and check the link to your blog.  If it needs changing or you have a blog to add, please leave a comment so I can fix it all up.

Thank you.

Lego Makes A Little Boys Wish Come True

Last time I reviewed a lego product, I asked Trailer Boy what his dream Lego would be.

His response?

A caravan!!!

This might not be quite the same as our caravan but it’s pretty close:

Lego Recreational Camper

And the lovely people at Zing actually remembered that was what his hearts desire was.  How nice is that???  :)

I was going to keep it for his birthday but he was so sick recently that I brought it out as a “cheer me up”.  And it certainly cheered him up!!!

Even though it’s a smaller set, Lego had still packaged it up into numbered packages to make building it easier:

Lego Easy Packaging

I’m not the world’s best Lego builder so this was particularly appreciated given he was not well and needed lots of help (and Farmboy is busy at the moment).

Every time I help build a new set of Lego, my heart always leaps to my throat wondering if a piece is going to be missing.  It’s NEVER happened though.  Lego must have some decent quality control.  Which is nice in this day and age of “cutting costs to increase profits”.  It might not be the cheapest toy to buy but at least you feel like you’re getting something for your money.

Trailer Boy With His New Lego

I still cannot believe how much detail they get into their kits.  This one has little cups, a pushbike (much to Trailer Boys delight!!!), a television.  Once made up, it opens up and you can actually play with the people that come with it - put them in the back, put them in bed etc.  So much FUN!!!!

Lego Camper TV and Cup Holder

Completed Lego Camper

He’s done nothing but play with it ever since we put it together!

A message from Trailer Boy:

It’s Good.

I like the inside of it and that they can surf.

There’s a thing up there (the top) where they can sleep.

The best bit is the drivers seat.

Thank you to Lego and Zing for sending it to me.

Thanks from me too!!!  I think you saved my sanity, trying to cope with a sick little boy!!!  :)  No doubt this will remain a treasured item in our home for years to come! :)

My Little Stars

We’ve had a couple of concerts in recent weeks that the kids have been involved in.

The first was our church’s Strawberry Fete. We hold this each year as a fundraiser. Basically it’s a concert but we sell strawberries and ice cream as well as have a cake stall, plant stall and some goodies for the kids to buy.

This year’s theme for our Sunday School portion of the concert was Superheroes.

Lleyton was Robin in one skit:

Lleyton as Robin

And a Gangster in another:

Lleyton as a Gangster

Singstar Princess was one of Superman’s cheerleaders:

Singstar Princess as a cheerleader

And my little superhero:

My little superhero

The second was Singstar Princesses first dance concert.  She only started dance at the beginning of this year and while she did do one dance at our community concert, this was the first “official” dance concert for her.

She had an absolute blast!!!!

Singstar Princess at her dance concert

She was in 1 less dance than her class due to the term she missed while we were away.  There were a number of “combined” dances though so she was in 5 altogether.  I won’t bore you with photo’s of all 5 though!!!  ;)

Here she is at home before we left:

Singstar Princess in her dance outfit

So far I have been pretty lucky with dance outfits as the dance teacher co-ordinates what she wants and we just pay a set fee per year.

I tend to get pretty stressed trying to work out dress ups and costumes and the like.

But the kids love the chance to get up on stage and perform and they’re very lucky to have the opportunity.

Time For A Blog Commenting Challenge

I have been a terrible blogger of late.

Not so much in the writing side of blogging.

More in the commenting side of blogging.

You see, no one understands the true value of blog comments more than a blogger.

So in my mind, part of a bloggers role is to reach out and encourage other bloggers by commenting on their blogs.

I think it’s a fine line because some bloggers get worried their comments will only be construed as self promotion.

But it’s all about community isn’t it?

I find blog commenting is bit like blog writing.  When you’re in the habit of doing so regularly, it tends to just “happen”.

Get out of the “habit” though and it becomes easier to just read blogs quickly and move on to the next one.

Once upon a time I did a lot of blog commenting.  I’ve always got something to say so it’s not that hard really.

BUT, I’ve gotten out of the habit and fallen into the “read and move on” category.

I’m still READING.

I’m still appreciating what the blogger has to say.

Just, perhaps, not really letting them know.

So, I’m setting myself a challenge.

Comment on 100 blogs in 1 week.

At 14-15 blogs per day, it won’t be an easy challenge.

I’ll be posting next week on how I went.

Anyone else want to set themselves a blog commenting challenge?

Smiley Saturday - Good For A Laugh

Smiley Saturday

This joke was recently shared on one of my yahoo groups.  It really made me laugh.  Hope it makes you laugh too.  :)

David  staggered home very late after another evening with his drinking  buddy, Paddy.   He took off his shoes to avoid waking his  wife, Kathleen..

He tiptoed as quietly as he could  toward the stairs leading to their upstairs bedroom, but misjudged  the bottom step.   As he caught himself by grabbing the  banister, his body swung around and he landed heavily on his rump.    A whiskey bottle in each back pocket broke and made the  landing especially painful.

Managing not to yell,  David sprung up, pulled down his pants, and looked in the hall  mirror to see that his butt cheeks were cut and bleeding.    He managed to quietly find a full box of Band-Aids and began  putting a Band-Aid as best he could on each place he saw  blood.

He then hid the now almost empty Band-Aid box and  shuffled and stumbled his way to bed.

In the morning,  David woke up with searing pain in both his head and butt and  Kathleen staring at him from across the room.

She  said, ‘You were drunk again last night weren’t you?’

David  said, ‘Why you say such a mean thing?’

‘Well,’ Kathleen  said, ‘it could be the open front door, it could be the broken  glass at the bottom of the stairs, it could be the drops of blood  trailing through the house, it could be your bloodshot eyes, but  mostly …… it’s all those Band-Aids stuck on the hall  mirror.

Happy Smiley Saturday everyone.
