We decided to forgo an overnight stop in Coonabarabran in favour of having a night to stop at the Gwydir Caravan Park in Moree.

Oh we’ve been there.. and stayed at that caravan park. Though I can’t say that their camping facilities are very good - but they didn’t charge us for the girls at all back then so that was nice.
I was pregnant at the time so didn’t get to soak in the super hot pools as much as I would have liked… so hope you enjoyed some for me!
Also hope Farm Boy’s back gets better (read the next post but commenting on this one).

Will you be passing through the St George area at all? I went back out there last week to stay for a few days on our friend’s property - I actually helped build a stock fence! But stories of mice plagues have put me off a country life for now

I’ve been reading without commenting much. I’ve been to the places you’ve just visited, but don’t remember much of them as we didn’t stay, just drove on through. We were living in Brisbane at the time and used the Newell Highway as our road to Adelaide/Murray Bridge/Port Pirie when we visited the families. K used to drive through the night and just pull over and we’d sleep on the side of the road whenever he couldn’t keep his eyes open any longer.

When I was little it was definitely the cheapest form of holiday for a family but these days the tarrifs seem to get higher and higher as well as all the extras. I don’t think there is anything that constitutes a cheap holiday these days. As for the rude man…….some people!

Your internet connection should become more reliable as you get closer to bigger centres. Unfortunately unreliable mobile service is part and parcel of country life.

“enjoy the lower petrol prices in QLD” - are they really lower than elsewhere now that Qld has abolished their fuel subsidy?

Those hot pools sound wonderful, I’d love to head out there right at the moment to enjoy them!
