Hair
When I was a teenager, I wished my hair was curly.
Curly hair was THE thing to have.
Mine?
Dead straight.
Well, not quite “dead straight” but pretty straight nonetheless.

Actually, in this photo, it is pretty much “dead straight”. Don’t mind me sucking my thumb. We’d bought these dummy lollies at the Melbourne Show and so I was pretending to be a baby.
It wasn’t all that easy to find a decent photo of me at that time to show you. My official school photo’s have gone walkabout and it would seem I’m being a “nutter” in most of the “casual” photo’s I have of me:

That one shows that it wasn’t quite “dead straight” but had a little bit of movement (sometimes).

My best friend in year 11 had hair so curly it drove her nuts. I’m sure if the two of has could have combined the straight and the curly so we both had a happy medium, we would have both been quite happy (or probably not, because you’re never happy with what you’ve got are you?).
When I was almost 18, I went to the hairdresser (my first salon visit as I was a “home haircut” kid). I had a job and money to actually be able to go to a hairdresser.
She layered my hair and showed me how I could get some movement using mousse and scrunch drying it.
I was impressed.
It wasn’t curly but it had some movement which was a vast improvement on dead straight.

The above photo was taken at my 18th Birthday Party and believe me, it took a LOT of time and effort to get that much movement in my hair.
Various styles followed. Permed, non permed, long, short-ish still long but not “mega long” like it was before we got married).
Then a few years ago, I walked into my local hairdressers salon, sat down in the chair and said something along the lines of “I’m sick of it, do what you like”.
I’ll never forget the look on her face as she was cutting away. “It’s curling”, she said to me in shock. Not just a little bit of movement but curls. When it gets longer (generally I prefer is more shoulder length for easy care), some of it even goes into ringlets.
Who’d have thought I’d ever get ringlets????
All this trip down memory lane (should have left the photo albums in the cupboard) simply to say that I used to have “straight” hair and now I have “curly” hair. No-one is more surprised by that fact than me.
I guess I could have just posted a couple of pictures of my latest “do” and been done with it couldn’t I? LOL. But where’s the fun in that?

I had blonde and copper foils put in. This picture doesn’t really show you the colour very well.
You can see it a bit better in this back view:

Because it’s a little shorter, it’s not quite as curly as it sometimes goes but as you can see, it’s far from the “straight” it used to be.
I am very lucky because it’s now so easy to do. I simply wash it and pop a small amount of curling creme into it and it’s done. For a “going out” look, I usually straighten my fringe (which I have done in the first image). And if I’m in a hurry, I’ll sometimes blow dry some of the “just washed” wetness from it. If I have time though, I just let it air dry.
I’m not taking a hair dryer with me on the “big trip” so I wanted to make sure it wasn’t too long. That way it shouldn’t take too long to dry.
I’m really happy with it and my hair is now “ready to go”. LOL.

Oohhh I love your new do!!! And those CURLS!!!!!!!!
Your hair looks soooooo luscious, soft and bouncy! The colours look great together and I admire you as I have never had my hair coloured!!! I am waiting till I really feel like taking a risk and dive in the deep end!!
I agree that hair is always a holiday issue so you have done well!
Enjoy!
Lap up the compliments you get!!
Your hair looks beautiful Jodi.
I meant to tell you on Wednesday night but didn’t really get to catch up.
I miss you already.
Love the hair…..and the colour is fantastic. I so get the whole hair thing. Mine is curly & I would love straight hair. I had a spiral perm when I was at school & it lasted 3 years - but at least the curl was consistent. Now it is just messy a lot. Especially when I am stressed & it starts standing right out. Maybe mine will trun straight if yours can turn curly.
It’s beautiful hair. Just like mine, when I get a proper cut that is. (rarely, can’t be bothered). I love the colours you’ve put in.
wish my hair was curly!!
you look fabulous!!!
Very nice. I wish I had curls! When I was a teenager I did the perm thing and have some hideous photos to prove it!
