Menu Plan and Catch Up
Where are the baby photo’s I promised? They’re coming. I’ve been having some internet connection issues of late so my apologies for the lack of posting.
The weekend was insanely busy.
Sport on Saturday was feral. The wind blew most of the day and the dust was awful. Not to mention the farmers were all grumpy about their paddocks blowing away (and who could blame them really).
Thankfully we had some rain on Sunday - although it wasn’t as wide spread as I would have liked.
We’re going on with sowing our sand and hoping for the best.
We did have a lovely day on Sunday catching up with family. I’m pretty exhausted now though.
I managed to get the kids some winter pj’s (it was getting rather desperate) and did some grocery shopping that is going to really upset my planned spending for the month of May but never mind.
I’m getting a little nervous because our meat supplies are dwindling. I know that’s the plan but I’m so used to having a freezer (or 2) with plenty of meat to choose from.
Shopping week to week is going to be a new skill to learn while we’re travelling. I think I’ll run out of meat before we go though so I guess I’ll get a little practise in then.
THIS WEEK’S MENU PLAN
Tuesday - Quiche
Wednesday - Lamb Shanks in slow cooker
Thursday - out
Friday - Southern Fried Chicken
Saturday - something easy
Sunday - Pasta Bake
Monday - Round Steak in slow cooker
Tuesday - Roast Chicken
One thing I’m hoping to be able to do while we’re away is increase the amount of fish in our diet. I’ve heard the fishing is good in Qld so fingers crossed Farmboy and the kids get good at catching us a feed.

Just so long as they know how to clean and fillet the fish too! blech!
I’ve always wondered about people that shop week-to-week and whether they have ’supplies’ in their pantry, almost for a rainy day! I hate seeing my pantry bare, but at the same time I can see hundreds of dollars just sitting there, waiting to be used.
The same with meat! We were using up the last of our supplies in anticipation of a big stock up, and I hated having so little to choose from.
Katy - this is scary to admit but I have never seen my cupboard bare. Even when I was a poor tertiary student. Even now with all my attempts to use stuff up, I’ll be going away with way too much in the cupboard.
What can I say? I’m a food hoarder. But I have seen other peoples cupboards bare. It’s a shocking sight and I do wonder how they cope. By going to the shop regularly I guess. Of course, that’s not really an option for me. Meat on the other hand, I’m pretty sure I will run out of before we go. Farmboy’s comment was that I go to town often enough these days that it shouldn’t be that big a problem.
We are so low on meat at the moment that I have no choice at all. I literally have 5 meals worth to get me through to the next weeks shop.
Time to get a sheep in my freezer!
I think I’m a food hoarder too. My in-laws have just bare basics in their cupboard, and they get by. I just love the variety and choice if I want to change my mind (and stop extra trips to the shop too).
Sharon - 5 meals…that’s scary!!!!
