Menu Plan Tuesday

Doesn’t have quite the same ring to it as Menu Plan Monday does it?

Nevertheless, it’s what is going to be happening around here for a bit.

As the freezer, fridge and cupboard get emptier, menu planning is becoming more and more crucial.

And I need to do it the day before I shop so I know exactly what needs buying.

My grocery spending isn’t going as well as I’d hoped.  Seems the family still wants to eat.  How rude!!!!  LOL.  I’ll still finish the month with a lovely surplus to add to my BHAG total but it won’t be as much as the $400 I was aiming for.

So, what’s on the menu plan this week?

I’m so glad you asked.  I figure if I have to menu plan (which I HATE with a passion) then I may as well share it.  :)

This Week’s Menu Plan

Tuesday - Homemade Pumpkin Soup with cheese muffins (and leftover cheesecake for dessert)

Wednesday - Roast Lamb (my last one to be used up) & Vegies

Thursday - footy (yeah, sounds tasty doesn’t it?)

Friday - Lasagne

Saturday - Oven Fish and Fries with easy veg (after being out at sport most of the day)

Sunday - out

Monday - Sausages

Tuesday - Quiche

I wish I could take the time to menu plan. But alas, I am not as patient or frugal as I could be. The only question I have is what is Footy? I am not familiar with Austrailan cuisine as I live in the U.S. I have researched vegimite but don’t know if I would have the taste for it. I do however love peanut butter & jelly.

I sounds like by the time you get ready to travel you won’t have any perishables left. That sounds wonderful. We are trying to do that with our freezer right now and it is hard. You Rock.

My menu plan has already been thrown out for the week after feeling sick yesterday and giving in to pizza.

Isn’t it amazing how the weather makes such a difference in how we feel. It’s been bucketing down here for 3 days now.

Good luck with yours. Sport at this time of year plays havoc with my menu planning.

Lynne - I’m sorry. I forget that not everyone understands our culture/language. LOL. Footy is short for football (Australian Rules football here which is a fairly unique game so I understand). Thursday nights we have football/netball training. The club cooks teas (usually hot dogs, pies, stuff like that) as the kids train at 5 and the adults from 6.30 until around 8pm. So we feed our kids in between trainings and then generally grab something ourselves after. I should have just written take away. :)

Kin - I started with a months menu plan for May and that got mucked up in the first 2 days and hasn’t been on track ever since so I’m reverting to weekly. At least then I can start again each week and alter things as I go.

    B - glad I’m not the only one :)

Weekly meal planning works for me. I get everyone to write down a few ideas of what they would like then I work through the list to come up with the week’s menu. This has worked really well for us and it doesn’t often get disrupted. I imagine if I tried to do it for the month we would get a fair few disruptions to the plan. I have a hard and fast rule that we don’t do takeaways at all so that helps us stick to the menu.

Kiwi Chick - sometimes I let the kids get involved with deciding meals but at the moment I need to use up what I have so there’s less choice.

So how are you going to prepare the “footy”? Will you have sauce or gravy?
    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

I keep saying I want to meal plan again, but I keep not doing it.

Emma, off to do a meal plan.
