OUCH!!!

I nearly didn’t go to netball training last night. I was feeling rather fragile and thought I’d be in danger of bursting into tears if things didn’t go well. Nothing serious I don’t think. Just hormones.
Anyway, I thought the exercise might help so I decided to go and take the chance.
And despite my post title, I am glad I did.
I really enjoyed it and feel like things are slowly coming back to me.
But, the most important thing is that I had fun. And lots of laughs.
And I realised something. As much as I want to improve, I need to stop taking myself quite so seriously and focus more on the “fun” part. Because getting frustrated with my lack of ability is driving me nuts!!! And sucking the fun out of the game. Wonder if I can do both (improve AND have fun)???? I hope so.
My legs are quite sore today. And I can feel the muscles in my arms as well. I’ve pulled up worse than last week! Not sure if I pushed harder this week or why they’ve done that.
Must be the week for pain from exercise I think.
My session in the gym on Monday was pretty full on. Actually, there wasn’t a lot of pain so much as complete exhaustion. You know the kind where you know you’ve given all you’ve got and there’s nothing left? That kind!
I’ve learnt something new about exercise this week. When you do stuff where you’re down low and moving to a standing position - it is EXHAUSTING!!!! AND a really GOOD workout! I’m not sure if it’s the lifting of your own body weight or what.
I’ve also learnt that burpees are my LEAST favourite exercise EVER invented!!!!
Question is, can I make this exercise my friend or will I ALWAYS hate it????

I’ve been trying to really exercise.
I’m moving on up in weight…..
I don’t want to diet though. I really don’t. It ends up being bad for me. So, I’m hoping I can stick to exercise instead.
Maybe I’ll try that thing in the video. It looks SCARY!!!!
is that really called Burpees? i think it looks like suicide… how fast do you really have to do them?
LOL
LOH too
I say focus on the fun aspect. The improvement will come all by itself. After all, when something is fun, you keep doing it. The more you do something the better you get at it. Go. Enjoy. Forget the burpees, that’s torture.
Dina - It IS scary - don’t go there!
As for diets, don’t go there either. They don’t work. Exercise is a much better way to deal with weight.
Lynette - It feels like suicide, I tell you. It’s what they do in the Army apparently.
River - Torture, yeah. At least MY coach would never make me do those!
Not really sure WHO was responsible for deciding we would do those at training. Usual fitness trainer (also my PT) wasn’t there but me thinks maybe she wrote up the program. Good opportunity to go hard when she wasn’t there to cop the heat from it.
It’s all good though - OTHER than the Burpees.
You might find you can fall in love with the burpees.
When I was in year 11 playing hockey our coach had evil ideas, like if you missed a ball or were late or some other transgression you had to do 10 situps. Then if you did it again it was 10 push ups. For a 3rd transgression is was 10 burpees. And repeat, only if you did it 4 times in a session it was 20 situps etc. She also used to do this after games.
I hated her and it for a while, because I couldn’t do situps because of my back, so I went straight into pushups, then burpees. It wasn’t unusual for me to be doing 40 burpees by the end of a training session.
BUT by the end of the 9 week season, I was so fit I couldn’t believe it. I was doing 100 pushups before bed each night (voluntarily) and able to RUN the 5 fields several times without blinking an eye.
*sigh* that was the last time I was that fit. I’m working on it.
