Ahh the same happened to me once, I hate it when the whole fridge goes bad. Well at least you got some good moments there so it wasn't all bad.

We just took Steph to the podiatrist who visits our hospital. There was a bit of a wait (3 months I think). He was great and she has had her orthotics properly fitted and made for her. He did the fitting and consult for that for free because we agreed for him to let his students do it in Whyalla (he can do it here), which took a long time because he was really hard on them and picky about the way they did it. But that didn't bother me as it was saving me over $100. As for the orthotics themselves I've never received an account for them....I don't know if that means they are covered under the public system because we went through the public system or what but rest assured I'm not asking any questions!

They are working wonders by the way, her ankles aren't giving her any trouble any more. Might be an idea to ring our hospital and see if you can get an appointment.

I've been lucky enough to not have any power blackouts, but I did get the separated milk. I had the carton in the door of the fridge which is always a bit warmer than the body of the fridge, and was using it fairly slowly as I don't drink milk, just having a bit in coffee and a bit on breakfast, so it had been there a while. Reminded me of the last time I saw my mum, she'd been unable to get around much and had someone else doing her shopping for her, so she'd ask this person to get some milk for her coffee etc...... when I visited, her fridge was full of milk, some of which was so old it had completely solidified. I must have flushed a dozen cartons down the toilet along with most of the other fridge contents, because by that stage mum wasn't eating anything at all.

Where to start?

In my van, the fridge was really a hotbox, and camping where there was no power it was truly a waste of space!

I can't believe the cost of your orthotics - V got some "dud" ones made a few years ago for $250 but could have gone for the $500 ones and our fund does cover podiatry - check around.

Ew to the food when you got home. I once accidentally switched off a freezer full of meat, and another time was feeding my sister-in-law's cat while they were away and a freezer door got left ajar - I know your pain (and the smell associated).
