Letters To Santa
Image by Stéfan via FlickrEvery year, our local paper publishes Letters to Santa written by some of the local school children in Reception (and sometimes year 1). It’s always interesting to see what the children write (even more so when my own children are involved - quite a revelation in fact).
Here are a few that were published this year:
Dear Father Christmas, I like you. I only want a DVD of Beverley Hills Chihuahua. We watched this movie in Adelaide. We are going to Clare for Christmas. The house is a greeny sort of colour and my name is F*******. My brother is M**, my sister is A****. We have some baby kittens. We could give some, if you would like one.
How cute is that????

I love you Father Christmas. Can you bring me a motorbike because I have been good lots of times and K**** has been good lots of times too. Why don’t you give my Mum and Dad presents? Merry Christmas Father Christmas.
****
Dear Santa, I hope you have a happy day. I have tried my hardest to be good. I hope I get some presents. I want a new bike.
I love the “tried my hardest to be good”.
So honest.
****
Dear Santa, Merry Christmas. Ho! Ho! Ho! I want a shotgun to shoot the emus.
*snort* I wonder if he’s a farm kid? These are published with full names under them - wonder if they’ll get a visit from some animal loving organisation?
****
Dear Santa Claus, for Christmas can I please have a remote control care and a surfboard and a book full of monsters, trucks and cars, a little cup of gold like the year 4/5/6 and pencils and textas in a pencil case. I hope you get this letter.
I wonder why some kids have a nice long list and others have 1 (or maybe not even anything) on their “wishlist” for Santa? Perhaps it’s a personality thing. I have 1 who could write a list of “wants” on request and 1 that hardly ever knows what they want (and 1 that’s too young to tell yet).

Dear Santa, Please can I have a book about Spencer
Who or What is Spencer? There’s one I haven’t heard of.

Dear Santa, you are special to us and we are special to you. Thank you for last years present. I like everything you got for me. I want an iPod and anything else that you give me. Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas.
I love those that have included a thank you for what they received last year.
Kids really make Christmas special don’t they?

Thanks for the post, it cheered me up! Yeh, why doesnt santa give parents gifts? I know, thats because Santa doesn’t come to our house as we don’t have a chimney! oh dear I am so tired!
Yes our boys are the youngest grandchildren on my side so its getting harder as they near their teens, they dont have the same excitement as littlies! and us adults always seem so serious! Last year Christmas night was at our place and i was determined to bring smiles to faces so we played playdough pictionary and it was such fun! !!!! Laughing about the silliest things in life was medicine to the soul!
RE Chrismas lists, our kids seem to know now that even though we ask them to write them, we never seem to end up with something from their list! Its good to know what they are thinking, then conclude how selfish we can all be, and for some reason, we like to keep them thinking even more when they see thier wrapped gifts! But isnt it so hard to disguise them when thay are odd shapes?
A farewell joke!
Did you hear about the Beverly Hills school Christmas pageant? Two kids dressed as Mary and Joseph and they are on their way to the inn in Bethlehem. On the other side of the stage, a boy in a shepherd’s outfit is on a mobile/ cellular phone, calling for reservations.
Have a safe and memorable Christmas Lightening
The only Spencer I know is from Thomas the Tank Engine. I have a ds5 who is crazy about Thomas.
I am very lucky in that ds5 is very happy with what ever he gets, including socks lol
Merry Christmas
My kids used to start their christmas wishing fairly early in the year. They’d stick with one or two things they REALLY, REALLY REALLY wanted, I’d go out and layby the items, then a week before christmas they’d hum and hah and think that MAYBE, just maybe, they’d like such and such. Grrr. They never wrote letters to Santa though. My mum tried to interest them in this, but they twigged fairly young that Mum’s secret name is Santa.
Thanks for including my childs letter
. He was stoked when he saw it as a star letter in the paper. BTW, the dad of the shotgun kid has been getting heaps of grief from the locals…. just goes to show you have to be careful what you say around your kids - they repeat EVERYTHING!
Neitheir of my boys will tell me what they want for christmas ths year. One of them wouldn’t talk to Santa either. The joys of them being 2 and 4. LOL.
Just asked them again now and got “Presents” as the answer. Too Easy. Santa shall bring them new carseat harnesses (as DS2yrs has outgrown the weight requirement for his inseat harness, but isn’t big enough for moving out of a harness and booster, figured the younger brother couldn’t get a harness without the older brother getting one.) THey are also getting walkie talkies and an assortment of other small bits.
Then of course all the rest of the stuff from us. Far too much.
Have a Great Christmas.
Thanks for bringing a little cheer into my christmas , i love what you are doing , Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful family
Too, too cute.
Must make sure we do letters to Santa next year.
