StillKindaStuffy - This topic seems to be really bothering you. I tend not to blog about too much TV stuff because I’m not all that interested a lot of the time. Unless it has something which feels relevant to me or I want to have a say on. I blogged about Terri simply because I felt her winning fitted in with recent topics we’d discussed on this blog - that of doing something which others of your own age perhaps wouldn’t attempt. Whatever her motives, I think what she did took guts and to be honest, I didn’t expect her to be popular with the Big Brother audience AT. ALL. So for me it was a pleasant surprise and I’m genuinely pleased for her.

Pushing a Terri win was mostly about Southern Star / Endemol trying to prove that “not all winners are the same” (although CH 10 canned the program, Southern Star / Endemol might be able to sell it to CH 7 or CH 9). This would have been much harder should a “typical” winner have emerged (people like Ben and Rory have both won before).

Stuffy - That clip didn’t really tell me anything more than what you’ve already said. We all know that television is about twisting the truth. I couldn’t say either way what Terri truly believes. I do think though that anyone choosing to go on Big Brother would have to have at least SOME tendencies toward attention seeking behaviour.

River - you’re right. They’re nothing LIKE reality are they?

I wanted Alice to win, she was the most normal of the lot, and seemed a genuinely nice person. But she really got stitched up over the treadmill thing.

Terri I didn’t take to at all. She seemed to be a very old 52 year old in her attitudes and stuff. Still better than uber-bogan Rory I guess.

It would have been surprising to see Terri not win, after all the whole thing was presented in ways to make her look good and her main rivals look bad.

I’m not sorry to see the end of Big Brother and I didn’t even watch it. Those “reality” shows are nothing like REAL reality, and I don’t think they’re worth the time it took to make them. Hopefully the slot will be filled with something worth looking at.

The claim wasn’t that damage had been done, but that it was the root of all evil. I also think that your attribution of courage is misplaced - anyone who deliberately in front of a television camera to promote a program saying “I think that religion is the root of all evil” isn’t displaying courage, but a pathalogical need for attention.

Stuffy - she could well be right there! I’m into “Christ” not “religion”. People have done a lot of damage in the name of “religion”. It’s incredibly sad. Whatever her beliefs and opinions, I still think what she did going in there took GUTS.

Horse - I don’t think it’ll be any great loss either. This is the first season where I’ve watched more than a couple of episodes. I don’t really understand WHY people subject themselves to the whole thing (the housemates that is). BUT, I do think it’s great she didn’t allow her age to be a barrier for her.
