Smiley Saturday - How Is The Nurturing Going?
I have to admit that I’m really thankful for my plans to focus on nurturing myself this month. This past week my body has been busy fighting a virus (a cold) and it’s been a good opportunity for me to put my nurturing into practise.
In spite of not being well, there has been plenty to smile about this week.
Farmboy began the groundwork for putting down the pavers in our patio. He is planning to do the whole job himself.
The younger two had a great time playing backyard gladiators with the punching bag Farmboy had dismantled to move out of his way:
Leighton the “princess tennis star” is always making me laugh with his antics:
I took some time out to appreciate a sunset from our front verandah (porch):
These new bedsocks have been a GREAT way to pamper myself. Sometimes it’s the little things that can make a big difference to rejuvenating our spirit. These feel like the softest little hug on my feet. It’s such a special way to end the day - snuggling in my bedsocks. They ALWAYS make me smile.
What things have you done this week to nurture yourself?
I look forward to reading your contributions to Smiley Saturday this week. Please remember to link directly to your Smiley Saturday post and link back here as well.

Ah, this week I actually did something to nurture myself. I read a novel for the first time in a looooooong time. It has been heavenly to lose myself in a book again. The sunset picture is lovely, it’s looks like it must have been wonderful to enjoy.
Your socks look so cosy. Did you make them yourself? I love bedsocks. Your sunset picture will have me checking out the rural real estate ads again this weekend!
Love the bed socks and that sunset is divine:D I think I am on a roll I have actually participated in 3 weeks running a new record for me I reckon lol
I promise and vow to start nurturing myself at least a little bit- just as soon as the first birthday celebrations are out of the way and all the kids are healthy… if that ever happens LOL
Drooling over your bedsocks!
Love the picture of Leighton the “princess tennis star”.
Nurturing? Mmm, must get onto that. Been a hard week, nurtured the hubby instead. Bubble bath, here I come.
I have been sitting out in the sun eating my lunch and I love to feel the sun soak into my skin and clothes and feel the breeze blow my hair.
I have also nurtured myself and 2 friendships by taking my girlfriends out for coffee and a chat and thorougly enjoyed the time laughing and sharing life! Forgetting that housework wasn’t gettting done was hard but deliberate! It can always wait.
Nurturing comes easy for me when I have a good book to hide behind esp. when I have fresh sheets on the bed that just welcome me!
Recently we bought some more fish for the tank and I love sitting in the leather lounge just focussing on them with no noise around……. somehow I just relax! Weird when I am not an animal lover!
cant wait til others share their pampering ways!
Nurturing myself? What is that?
But oh the bedsocks! Don’t you just love bedsocks! And my mum arrived from overseas this week and I got hand-knitted-with love-socks. I reckon that counts as being nurtured, even if I didn’t do it myself.
Great reasons to smile Lightening - It is good to nuture yourself.
I hope you are feeling better.
We are putting a roof of sorts over our patio area - almost 2 years in the making.
I messed up my linky - autofilled
my post is here
My Little Drummer Boys
Looks like a lot of things to smile about! I finished my latest book last night, so I’m pretty happy, too!
I love the look of those bedsocks.
I love bedsocks!
This week I painted my nails, after weeks of them being bare.
Oh and had a fun night last night with my girls on plurk.
Iâm sorry to learn youâve been ill and hope you feel better soon. Thanks for sharing the upbeat photos and for providing this wonderful forum. What a lovely sunset view you have ;–)
Iâm sorry to be a day late to the party, but my computer balked in the HEAT WAVE yesterday and I had to turn it off. I’ve posted my Smiley Saturday just now (on Sunday morning) and hope to visit others either later today or during the week. I hope you’ll drop by Small Reflections as time permits.
Hugs and blessings,
Jenn - good for you. It’s not easy as a mum to either find the time to take time out OR to do so and not beat ourselves up. I’m glad you were able to find some time to read.
Journeyer - no, they were an Ezibuy purchase.
Loz - fabulous! Thanks for your participation. When I get to adding links to my Smiley Saturday page, I’ll be sure to add yours.
Kate - honestly, it doesn’t have to be something that takes a heap of time. And the dividends it pays are huge.
Marita - he can be such a clown!!!
River - yes, you MUST (Lightening has spoken LOL). It’s even MORE important when you’re busy nurturing another (whether it be a child, spouse or other).
Lynette - that all sounds fabulous!!! We really MUST get our fish tank cleaned out. Fish are a great way to relax.
Cerebralmum - that is indeed lovely and so nice for you to have your mum around.
Oh, and it definitely still counts!!!
Trish - I imagine you’ll love having a roof over your patio - it makes it so much more versatile doesn’t it? I can’t wait until we get our verandah and decking done out the back too. But, one step at a time.
Tiff - they are very soft!!! And pink!
Kelley - I read about your Plurk antics. You’re a worry! LOL. Nailpolish can really give a lift can’t it. I love doing my toes because they last so much longer than my fingers (and I’m lazy like that!!!).
Storyteller - computers can be painful like that can’t they? Thanks for joining us again and I hope you get lots of visits. I’m a bit behind on visiting people after a very full weekend.
Nancy - my apologies. I think your comment was in moderation when I responded to everyone else. Such great news about your book and a FABULOUS reason to smile.
