I’m Going To Menu Plan - Shock Horror

It is like FOREVER since I’ve actually written a menu plan. But I’m hoping some inspiration will strike my fingers as I type and I can actually formulate some kind of menu plan for this week!!!

Let’s start and see what happens….

Monday - Rissoles with mash & vegetables

Tuesday - Corned Beef in Slow Cooker

Wednesday - Leftover Corned Beef in Cheese Sauce with vegetables

Thursday - Training (kids eat there, sometimes DH and I do and sometimes we grab whatever)

Friday - Chicken Munchies, Oven Fries & Salad/Veg (haven’t decided yet)

Saturday - Take Away Chicken picked up on the way home from sport

Sunday - pancakes (one of those “easy” nights)

Not my most brilliant menu plan ever but a plan nonetheless.

Do you menu plan regularly?

It’s been that long since I’ve written one that I’m very out of practise!!!!

I haven’t had time to post mine for a few weeks but since I started MPM I still do a mental plan every week.
I keep meaning to write it up on a white board so my husband and son can see .
It helps the ARGH … what am I going to do tonight - and forgetting to defrost meat.
Sounds like some fun dinners -I haven’t made corned beef for years. I am hoping to get a slow cooker for my birthday -so will try it then … mmm love it with white sauce.
Got a recipe to post ?

I’ve been doing MPM for a few weeks now and it makes life so much easier!

I do it spasmodically. Need to start doing it again on a more regular basis because it does make shopping weekly much easier.

I’m pretty sure there’s no rule that says your menu needs to be flash :-) In fact, if I try to make something a little bit different, chances are the kids wouldn’t eat it anyway.

I sort of menu plan. Because of OAMC, I have to decide what we’ll be having over the next month to shop/cook BUT I don’t map it out day by day. Just decide each day what we feel like when it’s time to serve up the meal. Doesn’t always work because we sometimes eat all the yummiest ones first (which is curry at the moment, so good when it’s cold!) and then have the rest at the end of the month, lol. But when I space it out, it works.

I find that when you are busy (and it seems that you are!) menu plans are fantastic for ensuring you eat healthily and stick to budget. Excitement is very rarely part o fmy menu plan :) .

Rissoles & corned beef, that is a great menu plan, I love them. I have my menu on MPM, under MyThreeDaughters.

Do you think you would notice an extra 39 year ‘kid’ at your dinner table? *lol*

That menu for the week sounds so wonderful, it’s winter comfort food heaven!

I menu plan every week - otherwise we end up eating out way too much and spending too much money at the grocery store on food that doesn’t get eaten. So glad you are doing this again, I always liked your menus - they always sounded so delicious!

I realise that I always do it even though I didn’t call it that.

When I do the grocery list, I make a “what will we eat” wish list in my head.

Some nights are set in stone, some very flexible.

Then when I check out the specials, I slot in good deals with the flexibles…

    This week:
Saturday - Cannelloni (I blogged the recipe)
Sunday - Grilled chicken and steamed veg
Monday - Grilled lamb chops and steamed veg
    Tuesday - tacos and burritos
Wednesday - Sri Lankan Pork Curry for adults, Spag Bog for kids
Thursday - Roast beef and veges
Friday - Fish, chips and salad.

I’m staying away from menu planning altogether. Hubby drives me almost to tears some days because he can’t decide what he wants to eat. So I plan meals, then he either doesn’t like “it”(whatever I’ve cooked), he’s not hungry, he doesn’t want me to cook at all because it “stinks up the place”or makes too much mess (dishes), or he wants me to cook something that will do two meals so that I don’t have to cook the next day. Then of course on the next day he doesn’t want the leftovers…………..I sometimes try for simple quick meals only to be told that maybe tomorrow I can cook a “proper” dinner…..Aaaaarrggh!!!!

Good on you Lightening for planning your meals. I couldn’t imagine not doing it, I used to get so cranky and irritable around dinner time because I had to think of something to cook and then make sure I had all the ingredients for the meal and then actually cook it….lol!

And hey, I just saw my Entrecard on your blog…. hehehehe…. how cool :)

Once upon a time I planned them a month at a time….. Feels like a long time ago. One of these days I’ll do another “restaurant menu plan” for y’all but thought I’d better start off simple.

This week’s menu plan has already changed…but that’s okay. That’s pretty normal. :D

Such a great idea. I always have grand plans, but they seldom pan out. Maybe when my little one is consistently eating solids.

Until then, we will keep trying. I like the idea of making it simple and quick in the beginning. I might be able to handle that!

    If only I could afford a personal chef . . .
