Grumpy

Cover of Mr. GrumpyImage via WikipediaI’m too grumpy today to write a reasonable post. I have several ideas for what I *could* write but they’re coming out all wrong because I. AM. GRUMPY.

The worst thing is that I don’t really have a good reason for being grumpy.

The house is feral. That certainly isn’t helping my mood.

But when I’m like this I can’t really tell if the house is really messier than usual or if I’m just not coping with it because I’m …… GRUMPY.

It is really kind of feral. Because in the wet weather everyone tramps in mud and dirt and tiny stones. We don’t have paths yet. Just tiny little stones to help reduce the amount of mud. I have no idea if it helps or not.  But the little stones in amongst all the dirt make me GRUMPY!!!!

I haven’t cleaned the shower properly for a couple of weeks so that’s feral. Kids playing in the mud and Farmboy busy in the paddocks doesn’t help. This time of year our shower is a real pain in the rear to keep clean. And of course the colder weather brings with it mould issues.

So, yeah, this is pretty much a post about NOTHING.

Just me trying to vent.

And I’m attempting to channel my grumpy energy into positive effort by putting it into cleaning. It’s kind of working. But mostly not. Because I am too GRUMPY to clean!!!

If you want to read something other than my whinge, then head over to my Zemanta post at Lightening’s Blogworld. That made me grumpy too. Because it came out of nowhere. I got busy this morning and wrote a post for that blog because Monday is my “write something useful” for Lightening’s Blogworld. Totally forgot that I’d gotten organised and prewritten a post for today. *sigh* Grumpy, grumpy, grumpy!!!!!! Yell I love that “smiley”. Sums up my feelings rather well!!!! LOL.

So I “unpublished” what I wrote today and will attempt to remember to republish it next Monday.  That’s something at least.

Anyone have any tips for curing the “grumps”?

It’s Monday. I’m grumpy too. I’m at work, and my house is feral, too. I don’t want to be here, so grump, grumpy, grumpy. I’m so grumpy I just posted about it too - Mondayitis.

I’m so grumpy, I may just not come in tomorrow, stay home and de-grump myself.

Other than that, chocolate and a good book sounds good!

Oh dear, I know I shouldn’t be laughing but I am - mainly because of the mental image of you more than likely stomping your feet while saying you are grumpy and probably bashing away at the keyboard while you were typing.

I am grumpy too - it must be something in the air and Mondayitis. My house is feral too and I am really struggling - I need to spend some time at home and get some things done, but I am not going to be able to take any time off work for a while yet. Blah.

Hope your day improves and that you do get something done around the house :)

Time to break the glass on the Emergency Tim Tams box. Not only is the Emergency Tim Tams box useful in an emergency, but it also acts as a test of will power because you know that the Tim Tams are there and that you should only use them in certain situations (rather than “oh 2:25, must be time for a Tim Tam”).

Bettina - what time will you be round??? ;)

Suze - I don’t usually get Monday-itis. Only Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday - itis-es. Very strange!!!

Gemisht - perhaps there is indeed something in the air!!! Laugh away. I was by the end of the post. I often laugh when I’m grumpy. Farmboy finds it hilarious the way I can’t tell him I’m grumpy AND keep a straight face.

Stuffy - now come on!!! You know me better than that! Do you honestly think I could KEEP an emergency packet of Tim Tams for a “real” emergency? Wasn’t it you that once told me I thrived on crises (is that the plural for crisis)???? Once upon a time I would have rung you up and taken my grumpiness out on you!!!! Alas, I can no longer do that!!!!! (picture here the poor female victim swooning over her loss). ALRIGHT - you can STOP. LAUGHING. NOW!!!!!

You and Feral Beast (my darling offspring) have the grumps.
Perhaps I should send him to stay with you and you can grump together, Lightening ? :P
He doesn’t do shower recesses but he can manage some lovely muddy footprints for ya :P

I’m glad that Monday here in Canada is a holiday. Though I suspect I might have a bit of the grumpies tomorrow — migraine tonight and I’ve got a pile of laundry to tackle tomorrow :( Poopie. At least the Budster is offering lots of cuddles.

Jayne - why not? Send him on over. They say that misery loves company don’t they? :)

Maggie!!!! I MISSED you! :) Hope the migraine disappears for you. :(

The packet would be a test of willpower. You could put a counter on this site “X days since Tim Tam emergency”. We could wager on how high the number might reach!

The best thing to do with grumpiness is to write about it. Also, Be The Grump. Aim high. Bring more mud and pebbles in and stomp them around. Paste yoghurt onto the mould in the shower. When Farmboy comes in say, ‘See what I have to put up with??’ See if you can outdo all previous grumpiness. Get farmboy to score based on how much he wants to run away.

I am grumpy, but only because of a phone call I just received from a client…

  13. Lynette, 19. May 2008, 15:22

Well I was feeling the same until I read your blog! My house looks like an indoor laundry trying to dry clothes adn shoes and its one of those days you wish you could stay in bed and read all day and noone would annoy you at all! However…… this never happens except in my dreams!

I am trying to be thankful that I have a roof over my head when so many in the world right now are homeless due to earthquakes etc… some children are parentless….. some are missing limbs……….. it helps bring me back to reality. Its hard amongst all the mess and muck but….. you will get through…. you have your hubby, kids and loved ones…… hang onto that special part of life….. we all ahve small and large stones in our lives that cause problems…. if we let them!

Love and hugs to you J - one special honest lady from SA!

    Maggie - sounds nice. :)

Stuffy - and what would your wager be???? I really don’t need a test of my willpower. Cos I already know I don’t have any!!!! :)

Hilary - that made me laugh. Farmboy came in and all he did was laugh when I told him I was grumpy. He ALWAYS laughs when I’m grumpy. I seem to be a very comical grump!!!!

Jeanie - that doesn’t sound real good. :(

Lynette - yeah, it’s all about perspective isn’t it. But some days I think we just have to let ourselves be grumpy, admit it and just run with it. I find fighting it (even with positive thinking) will only make me grumpier.

Must have been something in the air, I see you have read my post today:)

Have you tried what I forgot to do?
List all the things you don’t like and then:
Ask so What do I want?

It does change the vibes, when we are grumpy, universe hears grumpy and gives you more grumps

try it what have you got to lose

    {{HUGE HUGS}}. Don’t you hate it when you’re grumpy and really don’t know why…

  17. Marita, 19. May 2008, 19:25

I’ve got a very bad case of the grumps also.

Neither coffee nor chocolate has helped and hubby has gone to bed at 6.30pm because he didn’t want to get snapped at again :( I didn’t realise I’d been so bad.

Now I’m cranky because I was grumpy and snapped and cranky because everyone else has gone to sleep and I’ve got no-one around to grump at.

Time for a little mindless television.

You’re not a Leo by any chance are you? Because here’s the Leo horoscope for today:- Today might be a bit difficult for you, dear Leo, because you are not likely to be as productive as you normally are. You won’t have much to say, and you will feel sleepy and in a somewhat grumpy mood. In other words, it’s the perfect day to go back to bed with that novel you’ve been reading. Take a nap, or take several naps and follow your desire to do as little as possible. There will be plenty of time to catch up on your work later.
Hope you feel better by the time you get this.

Suzie - thanks for the prompt. What I want is a clean and clutter free house. And there’s only one way to get that - effort. *deep breath* Perhaps I should visualise a clutter free home and see if that helps me take steps toward my goal. I’m also wondering if I’m ready to take back the “reigns” from DH. I’m getting weary of not being able to find anything because he’s put it somewhere different to where I put it.

Kez - YEP! Thanks for the hugs and sympathy. :)

Marita - yeah, I hate that too. Although my DH laughs when I’m grumpy. He doesn’t take me seriously. Apparently I was still smiling. I did remind him I was also smiling while delivering our firstborn child. It’s a coping mechanism.

River - nope. I’m a cancer (what a horrible name!!!!). I think I would have been too grumpy to stay in bed. :D

Hope you are over the grumps by this evening!

Thanks for your encouragement today, must have been hard to come up with something nice to say when you are feeling so grumpy!

when i’m grumpy the only thing i can do about it is read, watch stupid movies and eat chocolate. it doesn’t really change anything, but usually the next day it’s better. maybe it just takes that long to take affect?
