Today It’s All About ME

That’s right, I’m having a ME day.

I have one at camp, one at school, one at kindy (preschool) and one who knows where (um…that’s Farmboy in case anyone is worried that I’ve lost a child somewhere along the way Wink).

Usually Friday is my “guilt free” day. Not that any day should *really* be a “feel guilty” day. But Friday’s is kind of a day where I give myself permission to NOT get anything productive done.

Given I’m currently child-free on a Thursday, I can’t help but wonder if I should make Thursday my “day off”.

Although, Fridays I tend to not feel like doing anything anyway.

SO, today I am declaring a “ME” day.

What I do next week will remain to be seen.

I’m not going to do ANYTHING today unless I WANT to.

I can do housework…if I WANT to.

I can blog…if I WANT to.

I can browse online….if I WANT to.

Right now I’m heading for a long soak in the tub.

Might be back later……

Then again, I might not. Smile

And I’m using Zemanta for the first time and it came up with this article suggestion. No idea if it’s good or not. I’m adding it because I WANT to. Smile

I’m with Sharon and Kelley - wise women. Enjoy your day and have Thursday AND Friday as your days! Go for it!
Taking care of you is not an unproductive thing to do. Tis a shame we have to tell ourselves to do it.

I don’t do it well, so I am going to lead by your example and have a me day on the weekend.

    I think…

Taking time to look after yourself is not in the “unproductive” category. I would class unproductive as wasted time, and feeling guilty is certainly wasted time. Taking a ME day produces a happy Me, and that is definately productive.

Enjoy that soak in the tub (although I hope you are out by now or you will be all wrinkly) and look after yourself.

What a great idea! Hope you enjoyed yourself. I always planned to have one day a month to myself once both kids were at school but 1.5 years later it still hasn’t happened. Guess I need to mark it on the diary like everything else. I do plenty of things for myself (like scrapbooking, gym) but to have a WHOLE 6 hours to do exactly what I WANT sounds wonderful.

I suggest one of two things (or a combination)

Any day can be a day off. Just take it. And not feel guilty. Mum’s day off can be any day ending in y.

    or

Have Thursday AND Friday as your days off. It is a Mummy weekend! I actually find that on days where I give myself permission to do NOTHING I am actually quite productive. Cause I am doing stuff because I want to.

Hope you have a lovely day off babe.

Hello there, you’re talking to the expert in ‘days off’ here lol

When the children are little you really need those days - days to please yourself. Raising five children I certainly needed a lot of them :)

If anyone wonders what you did there is always the old stand by answer - ‘you wonder what I do during the day, well I didn’t do it today’.

At one time our tv was quite small and sat on a trolley, on a whim when there used to be Midday Movies on I would run a bath, roll the trolley close to the bathroom door and spend time in there with a sandwich and coffee. When the water cooled off I’d let some out and then add more. Sheer bliss

Remember this is a while ago now when we didn’t have to think about things like water conservation.

    Take care
    Cathy

First, congratulations on wanting to do the time for yourself, many moms don’t. Second, thanks for linking to my article. I’m checking out Zemanta now. I do hope you have a successful “Me” Day.

Suze - I look forward to hearing how your me day went. :)

Sharon - too true!!! And yes, I was out of the bath by the time your message came through. :)

Libby - I think the mistake we often make is waiting until we have “time”. That moment never comes. I say “go for it”. It was really good fun!!!!

Kelley - a mummy weekend. I LIKE the way you think. :)

Trish - the pictures so far have been rather interesting. I found you have to pick through the suggestions. But it’s been interesting and fun!!!!

Cathy - that sounds very creative. I can see our TV from the bath if I keep the doors open BUT can’t hear it very well. And it’s not very big so it’s not always easy to figure out what’s going on. LOL.
