Personal Trainer - Session Two
I went to my session today with mixed feelings - some excitement and some trepidation. I knew last week was kind of a “warm up” and “settle in” type sesssion. Plus I spent about 20 minutes of last weeks session doing paperwork and weigh and measure etc. This week I had to face the full HOUR.
What I learnt today:
1. A fitball is NOT just for sitting on during pregnancy because it’s the only way to sit comfortably.
2. I am THE most unco-ordinated person that ever walked into a gym.
3. Lifting weights without any weights attached to the bar (and struggling) makes one feel a little stupid.
4. I have muscles (or a lack thereof) in places I’d never even thought about.
5. I can survive a full 60 minute session (although I did get slightly nauseous at one point) AND still be smiling at the end.
In all seriousness, it was fun - even if it was HARD at the same time.
And I figure the only way from here is up. I might not be able to achieve much yet. But I WILL!!!
(And I still think my personal trainer is lovely!!!!)

Lightening,
Glad to hear you’re making progress - go you! Isn’t it amazing how many muscles the human body has (and how much they can ache)? Just watch out for that “adrenalin high” - believe me it can become addictive
Glad to hear I am not the only one who feels as if they are completely unco-ordinated in a gym. At least you keep going back….I don’t.
Good on you!
Glad to hear you came out of it smiling
Makes me want to go back to the gym!
I’ll fight you for the most uncoordinated in the gym
And good for you for going. I’m with Meg - watch out for the adrenaline high, its very addictive.
If you are going to do a fair bit of weights get yourself some gym gloves. They really save your hands from getting blisters while you are not used to the bar rubbing in your hands - one of the best investments for the gym I ever made. And when I first started doing Body Pump classes I used to do all the weights bits with just the bar. Then I gradually added the weights, and different amounts for different muscle groups.
And yes, you will be amazed at which bits can hurt. Often going downstairs was more painful than walking up the stairs.
Enjoy it though, it is great. I wish I really had the time and the schedule to get back to the gym. Maybe one day………
I am usually the most uncoordinated person wherever I go! I sprained my ankle last week walking in my apartment…..Who does that?
It sounds like you are going well with your personal training! Good on you for going! I am terrible with that kind of thing!
Best of luck!
I reckon I could go for the most uncoordinated person in a gym too! You should’ve seen me when I started going to aerobics!
I’ve just started walking again, after a long break. I’m embarrassed at how terribly unfit I felt the first few days. Who knew you could be stiff from a 20 minute walk!!!???
Good on you Jodi! I can see I’m going to have to get off my backside soon, or suffer the jealousy when I see you looking gorgeous (even MORE gorgeous that is!)
Sharon.
Those bars are HEAVY!
I’m glad to hear you enjoyed it still
Meg - That’s what I’m hoping. That I get addicted to the adrenaline high and want to keep exercising.
Maggie - well if I can, you can. Although it helps that mostly it’s just me and my trainer there at the time.
Dee - Go on!!! You can do it!!!
Gemisht - blisters????? I hope my trainer doesn’t make me do that much lifting!!!! I have one very sore wrist today though which is a little bit concerning.
Lulu - It’s suprising how easy it is to turn an ankle. At least that’s what I find.
Tracy - It sounds like a few of us could form an “unco-ordinated club” here. I wonder how a chain of gyms strictly for the unco-ordinated and unfit would go???? Keep up with the walking. You’ll be glad you did! I figure the only way from here is up.
Sharon - How does the first Wednesday after the holidays sound????
Cat - thankyou. I feel better now.
It’s amazing how heavy they get after a number of lifts too!
Umm. Good I guess! Scary but good!
