One Small Step For Man…..
One GIANT LEAP for Lightening!!!!!
I did something very brave!!!!!
Very VERY brave!!!!
I signed up with a PERSONAL TRAINER!!!!
She phoned yesterday to confirm and to schedule a weekly session.
So I am now officially SCHEDULED!!!!
And I have a starting date…..
31st March.
Today I am off to the local council to see about a membership to our tiny gym.
I need to become a member so I can meet with my Personal Trainer there.
Hear that???? MY personal trainer.
I so have to add this to my “100 Things I Thought I’d Never Do” List.
The one I haven’t written yet for this blog.
But I will.
Soon.
Because I can put “training with a personal trainer” on it.
Which sounds waaaayyyyy cool!
Even though cool isn’t a “cool” word anymore.
It is to me!
Oh my goodness. I am excited and terrified all at once.
What am I doing????
Lightening has a personal trainer.
Doesn’t that so make me sound all fit and healthy like????

I’m very impressed! Hope it goes well and the trainer is nice, not some meanie who makes you do, like, 5,000 crunches the very first day!
Have fun!
Wow! Sounds painful imo
Totally fit and healthy like! I hope it goes well!
Wow - I’m impressed and terrified for you all in one
Nah, not really terrified… funny that personal trainers all have this image of being big and nasty and screaming a lot. Bet they don’t, really. Even if it’s just because they’d get hit too much.
I’m thinking I know who your personal trainer is, and she’s not a meanie at all. Although she is ridiculously fit which might make keeping up with her a bit of fun!
I have to say I’m a wee bit jealous. I’ve thought about signing up myself (I’m already a member of the gym) but just can’t allocate the funds to that at the moment.
You know how it is….family first.
Good luck with the developing of the new you!
WOW, I’m impressed. Well done. A few years ago when I joined the gym we got 3 sessions with a personal trainer and I loved it. We did boxing for pretty much all of the sessions which I LOVED. Great for getting out pent up aggression, especially when he keeps telling you to hit him harder LOL. But the good part is that you have someone that you are accountable to. A good personal trainer should be pushing you a little bit past your comfort zone, but not be mean.
You are, however, allowed to accuse them of being mean when they make you do lots of situps and things like that.
Enjoy it and you will get lots out of it.
Liz - 5000 crunches????? Now you are making me freak out!!!! LOL.
Jenn - excellent. Exactly the false image I was going for!
Naomi - thankfully I’ve been doing Aqua Aerobics with this trainer and she’s been wonderful. Very encouraging. So fingers crossed it will be good.
Sharon - Well I’m working on the premise that she’ll work at MY level not hers. LOL. I was thinking about you on the way home from town today. When I picked up my paperwork I found out you can use the gym pretty much anytime but there has to be 2 of you there at once. So maybe we can organise to go together sometimes?
Gemisht - I’ve NEVER joined a gym before. This one is pretty much just some equipment in a shed I *think* - small town and all that. Guess I’ll know more once I’ve actually BEEN there. But I am pretty excited about it.
you’re braver than me…gyms freak me out. too much testosterone and too many mirrors!
Yes! I would love you to be my gym buddy. I had one but she hasn’t rejoined so I’ve let that be my excuse ever since! The hardest thing is finding a time which suits both of us, let me know your thoughts.
Sharon - Can you get there during the day at all (like a lunch hour????) or is that too tricky with work?
Well done. I’m very impressed! I really need something to motivate/drag me kicking and screaming to the gym or some sort of exercise. I don’t think blogging counts as exercise, except for the fingers.
Good on you!
I think you need to write your 101 list asap: it actually ties into your previous post very nicely. Sure you might not have a big goal in flashing lights that you can point to but as you start writing your list you will find so many little goals from so many different areas of your life and actively pursuing them helps you grow as a person.
That’s what I’ve found.
AWESOME!!! I am so jealous! Here I was rabbitting on to you about perhaps joining curves and you had this under your hat….
Congrats on the leap of faith in yourself. You will be one hot mama in no time. Well hotter than now……
Preeeesenting………….the NEW and IMPROVED……………….LIGHTENING….
(applause, applause)
Don’t forget to start slow. Pulled muscles don’t feel so good……….
I could probably manage a lunch time session. Could have a shower at Sharon’s.
What day works for you?
That’s fantastic. I think any positive direction in improving your health adds to improvement in all areas. I am not a big fan of exercise, but I do it every day (well mostly every day) because it is good for me. It becomes a little addictive after the initial pain. Go You!
Oooooh, A personal trainer. I needs me one of them for Easter! Much better than a basket full of chocolate.
OOo a PT !!!! I had one who came to my home 2x a week. It was great. They don’t yell and shout at you at all. Well mine didn’t. He was cool.
Good luck.
Yay good for you! We often forget to take care of ourselves in the busy life that family is! Cheers to a soon to be fitter you!
There’s something for you over at my place :))))
Several years ago I had a yoga instructor who gave personal lessons. She would come to my house once a week and we would do yoga together. It was glorious! She was also a personal trainer, but I chose to learn yoga.
She was wonderfully patient and I learned so much from her!
I wish you a wonderful experience with your personal trainer. It’s so important to take time to take care of yourself!
Good for you!
I’m sloooooooooooooowly trying to regain my lost strength and stamina for this year’s City to Surf. I hope you do well with your PT.
