Smiley Saturday
Welcome to Smiley Saturday for another week. Last week we had a record number of participants so thank you to each one of you. You all make me smile!
I feel like I’ve had a rather busy week this week. On Monday Leighton had the years 4-12 swimming carnival at school. I wasn’t well enough to see him last year so I was pleased he was swimming again. He’s not a very confident swimmer and it does my heart good to see him give it a go anyway. To me it shows a lot of courage to do something he’s not good at in front of a crowd of people. I’m so proud of him!
Yesterday I received a parcel in the post and we all know how much they make me smile!!!! One of my wonderful readers contacted me and offered to send me a book about internet stuff that she was no longer using. I was so excited as I’d like to learn a bit more about HTML and CSS type stuff. Thank you so much Beth - you really made me smile this week!
And with it came this card:
I thought that was perfect for Smiley Saturday!
That’s two Smiley Saturday’s in a row with lovely parcels in the post. If anyone else would like to make me smile, my address is PO Box….. just kidding.
But Speaking of Parcels in the post….. I guess you’re all hanging out to find out your “Smiley Saturday Swap” partners. So here they are:
Smiley Saturday Swap Partners
Lizzie & Lis
Ricky & Maggie
Sharon & Beth
Ann & Lightening
Amy & Erin!
Jeanie & Babyamore
Laura & Janette
Tracey & Sarah
I hope I’ve got all of those sorted out correctly. Please get in touch with your swap partner ASAP (by finding their email in the original swap post) to exchange addresses. If I’ve missed anyone or made an error of any other kind, please get in touch with me and I’ll see what we can do.
Things to Remember About the Swap
1. Try to keep your item under $10. It can cost less than that or even nothing if you have something on hand you’d like to make/send.
2. Include something pink with your swap. It can be the item you send but doesn’t have to. The card or wrapping can qualify for the pink component of the swap.
3. Get your swap parcel in the post by March 15th 2008
4. It would be great to get as many photo’s of swap items as possible (which I will post in a Smiley Saturday post in the future). If you don’t have a digital camera, please mention that to your swap partner as if they have one they could take a photo before they send their item as well as taking a photo of what they receive.
Postage Tips for Australia Post
1. A large envelope is cheaper to send than a parcel. Large envelopes need to be less than 20mm in thickness and no larger than 260mm x 360mm in size. There are also weight increments and anything over 500g is automatically considered to be a parcel. So think FLAT and LIGHT if you want to keep postage costs down.
2. For parcels within Australia it is usually cheaper to buy the red & white prepaid envelopes (the yellow express post satchels shouldn’t be necessary and do cost more). These have a maximum weight on them (I think the small is 500g and the large 3kg).
3. Here is a postage calculator to check postage rates. It’s worthwhile checking this out as a few grams can double your postage costs.

Hi Lightening,
There’s nothing quite like hearing someone completely lose it on radio.
That made me smile this week.
CB
Love the card !!!!
Lots of smiles here !!!!
Hello.
Very cute card, I have some scrap booking paper in that theme, very cute.
On the swap thingy. I see I have Beth, but when I went to the original post Beth’s has no link so if you are reading this Beth can you get in contact with me so that we can swap goodies?
Cheers
Sharon.
That card is so cute.
And good on your little man for having a go in the swimming carnival

I’ve had a fabulous smiley week with so many things to make me happy.
Love the card, it is adorable.
Mmmmm, parcels! Gotta love those. What is this swap I’m now reading about? I really need computer access when I go to Sydney! I miss too much when I’m away. I’m off to see what it’s all about.
Tracey - yeah, it’s all happening around here. Can’t go away or you might miss something exciting!!!!
Marita - I’m so pleased to hear you’ve had a good week!
Anja - yeah, he could teach me a thing or two about having a go!
Sharon - If you don’t hear from Beth in the next couple of days let me know and I’ll forward you an email.
Widdle Shamrock - you always make me smile!
Cellobella - thanks for joining in this week. Great to have you!
I’m here and I’m smiling………… even though my patience is just about stretched to its limit!
you are a much loved blogger Lightening ..
that card is cute !
I can’t wait to do my swap … Jeanie I am comign to see you tomorrow (11pm here now)
Good morning, i’ve added my weekly giggles/smiles
Don’t ask why I am up so early on my day off to sleep in, the turd — I mean my beautiful cat, wanted to play this morning. So here I am.
Okay, there has been a slight change to the swap partners. Tracey was away and missed the original call to put your name down for the swap. As I’d put myself in twice to keep the numbers even, I have substituted Tracey as Sarah’s swap partner.
Sarah, Tracey’s email address is dtmb at iprimus dot com dot au . If you could get in touch with her when you see this message, that would be great.
Babyamore - you know, that was just what I needed to hear this morning. Thank you. I seem to be going through a rather low/question myself type of phase right now.
Bettina - I’ve just been reading your blog and I can see why your patience it stretching rather thin. Thanks for finding something to smile about amongst all the angst.
Maggie - we have the same problem with our kids. They’ll sleep in on a school morning but come Saturday when we’d like to sleep in a little, they’re up at the crack of dawn (and in and out of our bedroom countless times just to make sure we can’t have a sleep in!!!!).
Hi - Sorry - I didn’t see your message to contact Tracey but she contacted me so we have connected. Thanks! I will have something in the mail on Monday.
Can’t wait. Thanks also for the award. That’s a cute one. Now, I need to go figure out how to put it in my sidebar. I think I know from some other things I’ve done.
