Smiley Saturday

I’m looking forward to another Smiley Saturday full of posts that make me smile! SmileWhat really stood out to me this week was a tiny little gesture. The type I have talked about before and yet still struggle to do.An uncle from my in laws side of the family had a birthday this week. MIL suggested that maybe we’d like to send him a fax to wish him a happy birthday. DH kind of shrugged it off (as he tends to with that kind of thing) but I asked Singstar Princess (DD) if she’d like to draw a picture and send it via fax to him.

For Christmas from this particular Great Aunt and Uncle she’d been given a whole lot of textas and other fun drawing stuff so it turned out to be quite appropriate. It also turned out to be quite a fascinating learning experience for her. She’d never used a fax before and she was quite perplexed by the fact that her picture was still here when it was all done. Smile

Apparently it quite made his day to receive the fax. Yet another reminder of how making a small effort to keep in touch really does matter to people. I know I struggle at times (as I’m sure we all do) to fit everything in. But it’s something I really *want* to do more of. Reaching out with a tiny gesture that says “we’re thinking of you”. It doesn’t take a lot to give someone else the gift of a smile!

If you have a Smiley Saturday post to contribute, please link to your post by adding it to the Mr Linky below. Some people have been using the Mr Linky to simply advertise their own blogs (not linking to a Smiley Saturday post). Any links direct to a homepage will be deleted. If you’re unsure how to link directly to your post, you can link to your homepage and leave me a comment and I will change the link for you.Smile The main reason for linking directly to your Smiley Saturday post is that those who come along a little later in the week (or longer) can still find your post.

For those who are new to Smiley Saturday, you can read an explanation of the “rules” on my Smiley Saturday page.

Remember to link back here so people know where to come if they’d like to join in the fun - either by writing their own Smiley Saturday posts or reading what other people have written.

Have a wonderful Smiley Saturday everyone! Cool

thanks Lightening - can you fix mine I clicked enter before I read the post fully and it is autofill.

What a great idea to send your Uncle a birthday fax. I bet he will remember this for a long time.

Hi Babyamore and thanks for joining in on Smiley Saturday! :-) I have fixed your link for you.

I feel bad for being such a “link Nazi” but last week I had 2 entrecard visitors decide they would drop their link to their blogs simply as blog promotion. I like to think it was a misunderstanding of the purpose of the Mr Linky but it’s just as likely they never even read my post and were just using it as a blog promotion opportunity. *shrugs* Not that I mind people joining in as a way to promote their blogs - as long as they join in the “spirit” of “passing around the joy” (ie make a Smiley Saturday post). :-)

Love the fax idea, sometimes keeping in touch is as simple as sending a quick fax, email or dropping a postcard in the mail, yet so few of us take the time to do it.

Speaking of mail, your PIF gift is on route.
