Entrecard

You may have noticed a small ad type space has appeared in my sidebar underneath my blogroll.  This is called an Entrecard.  It’s basically a set-up for blogs to help them promote themselves on other blogs.  The idea is that you set yourself up a kind of “online business card” and when you visit other blogs, you get to leave your card by clicking on the bottom of that widget.

By building up points (gathered by leaving your card on blogs, others leaving their card on yours and by allowing others to advertise their blog on yours) you can then put in requests to have your card shown on other blogs.

I can’t comment on it’s effectiveness just yet as I’m only just trialling it myself.  It seems like a bit of harmless fun so far with the potential to help drive traffic to your site.

While I do have the opportunity to vet out obviously inappropriate blogs from being advertised on my site, I would like to point out that I am not specifically endorsing these blogs either.  It’s just an opportunity for them to be seen by a different set of eyes.

    Thanks for stopping by my site. I have only been with entrecard for about a week now and I have to say that I have seen an increase in traffic to my site!

    Hi Lightening,

    I’ve been with Entrecard for about a week now. I think it’s an incredible source of traffic. There are certainly those that will “hit and run” and not spend any time at all really checking out the blog. It doesn’t bother me, ’cause there are far more people sticking around, commenting and subscribing.

    I even manage to find some Entrecard users while I’m stumbling, and “zooming” with Bloggingzoom.com. So I’m killin’ three birds with one social networking “stone”. hehe

    Jayne - I’ll keep you posted. :-) So far I’ve had 58 visits from other entrecard users and my card hasn’t appeared as an ad yet. So I’m pretty happy to date.
