Smiley Saturday

Smiley Saturday

Yah, it’s Smiley Saturday time again.  I have HEAPS to smile about right now.  We’ve just spent 2 weeks as a family at the beach!  It has been truly wonderful.  Farmboy’s sister and her family have been there too.  They live 500km away from us so it has been really WONDERFUL to spend some quantity time with them.  Especially as their children are 4 and 2 so long breaks between seeing them means we’re not all that familiar to them (well, not as much as I’d like to be).

My niece is the most beautiful little petal and I’m really enjoying her feeling more comfortable around me.  There is NOTHING like a kiss from a 2 year old to make you smile!  Smile

The small town where my in laws have their shack put on a New Year’s Day fun day with lots of games and stuff for the whole family.  We took our children as well as our niece and nephew and they had lots of fun on the jumping castle (and of course face painting, games, ice creams and so on).  At the jumping castle they charged NOTHING for kids under 5.  Those 5 and over paid $5, got a stamp and were able to come and go for the whole day (unlimited turns).  What a wonderful idea.  Leighton had a great time running around with his mates and entering the games and competitions.  He won several prizes including a $5 note!  So he was happy.  The kids were so wonderfully behaved and I really enjoyed watching the smiles on their faces all day!  Smile

Alrighty, over to you.  What has made you smile lately?  Have you been able to enjoy the pleasure of bringing a smile to another’s face?  Perhaps you have a funny joke, photo or video to share.  As long as it relates to smiling in some way, it qualifies.Smile

Write your post, then come back and link to it using the Mr Linky below.  If you’ve never participated before, you might like to read the “Smiley Saturday” page first.  Everyone and anyone is welcome to join in the fun!!!!  Take part in spreading a little “lightening” around.  Smile

Well we have all had a rather smiley holiday time so far! Few squabbles from the kids and in fact, our kids were very generous in thanking everyone for their presents this Christmas and I was very proud of them. (no prompting from us parent ogres to say thanks was a bonus)

I decided that I wanted to hear some laughter from my extended family when they came to Christmas tea so made up some bright green playdough and made up a few lists of words that all ages could “create” to play playdough pictionary. We had 3 teams of 4 of various ages (from 9-76) and the neighbourhood could have heard them all laughing!.The competitive and creative sides of all were exposed but not one got upset or embarrassed but tried their best for their team and some laughed till the cows came home. While I was the MC for the games, I had my share of laughter watching them all! If you have never tried the game, its a must….. you can even play it using the board game as a basis, but believe me the kids version is much easier to adapt.

Great to hear you have had a great break and change of routine Jodi! It rewards us all well when we make that extra effort hey?

Have a great week enjoying home comforts again even if it is a very hot one here in SA!
