2008 is Going to be GREAT!!!!
And I can’t wait!!!!
Those who know me well know that I LOVE new beginnings.
New Year’s are just like those fresh new exercise books and folders you used to have at the start of a new school year. So clean and white and empty - just waiting to be filled whatever I might write in them.
Having worked hard during 2007 on dealing with issues from my past with the help of a counsellor, I feel more ready than ever to make a fresh start. I’m feeling very positive about the promises that 2008 holds.
Here are a few of my goals and dreams for this year:
PERSONAL
* Be able to comfortably jog 5km and work toward my dream of one day running in the City to Bay Fun Run (12km)
* Get back to a healthier diet (slipped up a bit of late)
* Continue with counselling and work toward understanding myself better and building up a self esteem
* Consider what I might like to do in terms of bringing in a supplemental income for the family (youngest will be at preschool in 2008 and then school in 2009 - I would like to contribute just a small amount of supplemental income if I can)
FAMILY
* Take the kids to see the snow (they haven’t seen snow yet - the closest is a couple of days drive from us)
* Get back into helping out in the kids classrooms at school
* Family time at the beach
* Continue our Friday night Family Nights
* Continue with once a month date nights (sometimes lunches) with DH (this will be harder with him returning to a full workload)
HOME
* Get paving done outside
* Plant some fruit trees
* Work on decluttering and simplifying
FINANCIAL
* Work out a budget (we need more room for shoes for DS and a few other areas will need to go up)
* Continue to learn new ways to stretch $$ further. Plan new challenges (and repeat old ones).
* Learn more about self sufficiency and what we can start implementing in that respect.
* Find money to purchase a caravan and save for our 3 month trip in 2009
* Consider our long-term savings and superannuation plans
BLOG
* Continue to learn how to make the best use of all the functions wordpress has to offer
* Build up my readership
* Consider and decide whether I want to monetise as part of my “supplemental income” goals
Well, that’s a good start at least!!!
What are your plans and goals for 2008?

Happy New Year and good luck with all your goals for 2008. It is definitely going to be a better year. I am still thinking about mine but now my husband has gone fishing for a couple of days I can put to paper!

My plans are to do more travelling.
My goals are to try to delve into my own creativity and to insist that my brain not shy away from things that are difficult.
I LOVE new exercise books! I wait for the January Back to School sale at Officeworks when they have these for one cent, five cents, according to size and I buy a couple of dollars worth. They last me the whole year for shopping lists, notes to the kids, drawing paper for the grandchildren, etc. A real bargain. And I live just across the road from my local Officeworks store. Mmmm stationery…………
Have you seen the couch to 5k running program here - http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml ? My hubby and I also have a goal of running 5k this year and started yesterday with the first workout.
Good luck with all your resolutions!
Thanks for that website Jenn, I’ve just printed it out and am planning to get started tomorrow when I go to the beach.
And you are right Lightening. 2008 is going to be GREAT! You’ve dealt with so much and come so far and I’m really proud of you!
My list is on my blog so feel free to take a look and keep me accountable!
Jodi, I wish you all the best with your plans for 2008 and hope it is a wonderful year for you. I have put my financial resolutions on my blog but it’s basically just to continue and build on the habits established last year.
Kelli - thank you.
Frogdancer - meme is done! Go me!!!! LOL. Yep, it’s going to be an AWESOME year for all of us. I can feel it in me bones….
Mary - hope your goal-setting went well (and the fishing too - there’s nothing like freshly caught fish!!!).
Lucky1 - I’ll be sure to keep everyone posted. Thanks.
Kelley - good luck with the rules.
Did you really expect the girls to jump up and down and yell “go mum”?????? LOL.
Bettina - the good thing about a list like that is it’s highly likely this year will be better for you!
Dorothy - wishing you all the best for your surgery. Hope you don’t mind if I pray for you.
Julie - your plans and goals sound wonderful!!!! I can’t wait to do more travelling.
River - I hardly EVER get to take advantage of the back to school sales (we don’t live near those kind of stores) but this year I did. I had an appointment Thursday and went to Kmart and bought some of those cheap exercise books. What a buzz!!! Even better that this year they had a clown fish (like Nemo) on the front. Came back from shopping with a 10c lollipop and a 2c exercise book for each of my kids and niece and nephew and I was the BEST mum/aunty ever!!!! Go me!!!! LOL. The kids spent ages lying on the floor drawing in their new books.
Jenn - thanks. Yes, I have seen that program. I used a similar pattern to get up to running 5km early in 2007 but a run of illnesses and issues brought it to a halt so now I have to build up my fitness again. I can still do 1-2km okay so just need to keep building on it to get back up to 5km. It’s a great program.
HisPrincess - I’ll have a look soon. Hope the running goes well. Look forward to hearing how you went when you get back.
Emma - can’t wait to read your post (as you may have already guessed, I’m a tad behind at the moment).
