Hi, I bought my first set of round looms about 3 years ago, and for the first year, didn't really touch it. I decided then to give it a go, and did heaps of research on the net, because of the lack of books available here. So many sites offer so much info, and I have learned so much. I really hope this takes off here in Australia, because the residents in my nursing home are thrilled to bits that they can knit again, producing beautiful knitted pieces to take pride in. I have recently purchased the long loom set, and have been having fun learning, and teaching residents to use them. Happy Loom, Knitting!!

Hi All,
I have been loom knitting for a while now. I am still not very good but I find it very relaxing. I have found it very difficult to find knitting looms and associated products in Australia. I have the spotlight loom and have fun knitting all kinds of projects with this. Although I do find the US patterns use different looms and different guages this has not so far been a problem. I have purchased a few pattern books from Amazon but have found the majority of places don't ship to Australia. My difficulty in finding looms to experiment with has made me consider opening my own ebay shop and import the product from direct from the manufacturer in the US. After searching high and low (success at last) I have found a few US places that will ship to Australia and a few Australian also. To purchase in Australia http://www.foxcollection.com.au/ (as mentioned previously in a comment above) and http://www.craftonline.com.au/. Unfortunately both have limited ranges and are more expensive than buying direct from the US. To purchase in the US https://www.creativexpress.com/ (expensive shipping but less expensive products) http://www.spinblessing.com/ (more expensive products but cheaper shipping costs). Both have a great range of products. I will continue my search or let you know if I decide to go the ebay route.

Happy loom knitting to all.

Hello (Australian) Knitters,
Spotlight Stores sell Ring looms just like the ones pictured above.
The label is 'Crafters Choice' (for Spotlight Australia) and include 4 ring looms in the following sizes: 13cm, 18cm, 23cm and 29cm looms, plus hook and needle. They sell for AUD $9.95 for the set of 4.
I'm using the 23cm loom to make 'chainmail headpieces' for the knights costumes in my son's school musical.
The text instructions that come with the looms would be much easier to follow if they included a few diagrams/illustrations. However, I'm sure I'll work it out after a little trial & error with yarn tension and trying out different yarns on the looms. I'm looking forward to finishing my first piece.

Hi Jeannine and Denise,
Thanks for dropping by and adding a comment. :-)

I bought my looms online at www.thefoxcollection.com.au . They only had the set of 4 circle looms though - none of the other looms I've seen mentioned. They tend to change their stock frequently too so I can't be sure how long they'll keep the looms in their range.

Hi "Lightening",
This is Jeannine, one of your new American pals from the kniftyknitterlooms group on Yahoo.

I love your scarf and hat and I can't wait to see your next project, the yarn sounds yummy.

We have a number of members in the various groups from Australia and they have been saying they can't find the looms there. (there are a number of other KK loom styles as well, including a "Spool Knitter", I think you call it a "Tomboy"). Did you get yours On-Line or local? If you have found a source over there, I am sure the others would love to know about it.

Keep lurking and if possible, join some additional groups. One I would suggest is LoomClass as it is another Yahoo group. It has a little less chatting, so the instructors can avoid missing questions, etc. but you can learn some really great things.

Wait until you see all the things you can make and all the stitches and techniques you can learn. You will be so surprised.

I love your blog and I am adding it to my "favorites".

Hugs,
Jeannine
