101 Things

One of the things I LOVE about writing a personal blog is the opportunity to record things that might otherwise get forgotten in the busy-ness of life. Particularly those things that are perhaps things I never expected to achieve in life. I do LOVE the idea of challenging and stretching myself but at times lack the confidence to follow through. Starting my “101 Things I Thought I’d Never Do” list has been an inspiration to me to continue to learn, grow and change. I don’t know if I’ll ever make it to 101 but I know I’ll have fun trying. Smile

Below is a record of that list with links to the posts where I talk about what I’ve done:

1. Here’s where it all started in the post “I Just Drove a Truck”. I probably really need to put “marrying a farmer” as number 1 but as I haven’t actually written about that on my blog (it’s coming….) I won’t add it here just yet.

2. Cutting My Kids Hair. My mum always gave us “home haircuts” and I wasn’t sure it was something that I wanted my own children to endure. Plus it really wasn’t something I felt I could capably do. However, I gave it a go one day by practising on Leighton’s hair BEFORE he had a clippered cut and was quite happy with the outcome. I ALWAYS give my children (once they’re old enough to decide for themselves) the choice though. If they prefer to go to a hairdresser, I’m more than happy to take them. So far, they keep choosing MUM. I wonder if it’s because they get to watch TV while I cut their hair???? I hope they don’t look back at photo’s later in life and cringe at their hairstyles. Undecided

3. Knitting - of any kind!!!! I started with Loom Knitting and then progressed to knitting with needles.

4. Helping in the Shearing Shed. I was worried about COOKING for shearers if I married a farmer. It NEVER occured to me that I might one day actually help out INSIDE the shed!!!! Ooh, I just noticed that in that post I did mention not wanting to be a farmers wife.

5. Having my own website. Using a free blogging service was a big enough leap for me. I NEVER expected that I would purchase my own domain name and move to SELF HOSTED. Of course, I did do it with a LOT of help from a friend!!!! Wink

6. Making it into the Top 100 Australian Blogs Index. I kind of hoped I would one day make it into the Top 50 (now Top 100) Australian Women Bloggers list but really hadn’t expected to get into the Top 100 Australian Blogs Index. In fact, I’m still not all that sure that I deserve to be there. But excited all the same!!!

7. Joining a Gym and working with a personal trainer.

8.  Playing Netball again after a 21 year break.
